I believe the used SL price will see a significant drop in the next 2 to 3 months.  Why?  Because the SL2 is not an incremental update.  It's a major redesign, and many will regard the SL1 as obsolete.

Used M240s were going for $4500, then the M10 was released and the M240 used price dropped to around $2500 within 2 to 3 months.  No reason the SL1 is going to be a different story.

I sold my Leica SL for AUD$4.5K in June 2019. It was mechanically perfect, but had plenty of signs of use, including scratches... I'd taken well over 100K frames with it and dragged it around the world a few times!

I sold it and bought an S1R, which is a fine camera, but nowhere near as enjoyable to shoot for me as the SL was. I've ordered the SL2 and can't wait to get my hands on it.

As to what the future is for the SL pricing... it's by any measure a wonderful camera and should hold value, but as a digital camera I think it will drift down over time... you can get a Nikon D2X for few hundred dollars these days!

I held onto my SL when I bough the S1R, after 4 months I sold my S1R and went back to the SL. As you say, I missed the enjoyment and simplicity of the SL,  AF settings being just one example.

All digital camera prices will eventually drift down over time, including the SL2. Even more so as the megapixel race and headlong rush into overloading cameras with additional or often superfluous features continues unabated, all this being fed by our insatiable GAS.

Speaking purely from a personal perspective, my concern is that we can end up spending too much time messing around and tweaking settings on cameras and not enough time concentrating on the art of photography itself.

I fear that it's becoming more and more a case of what the camera is capable of doing rather than what the photographer is capable of doing.....

I just noticed a marked drop in SL prices on e*ay and C*aigslist.

I bought my well used SL on Friday and am still in the learning curve.  Still have my Q which I chose NOT to upgrade -- 24 meg is plenty for e up to A3+ prints.

Early notes: Totally wonderful user interface once you remember "Single Tap", "Double Tap", and "Long Press" for each of the buttons -- and they are all ready to customize!

Also, I'm learning to love the "Grey Card" for sampling the Color Balance.  Might be marvelous for product shots and models under horrid light!

I've just bought my first Leica, the SL for £2100 used in the UK. I honestly don't know it that was a smart or rational decision, but I can't wait to get my hands on it. I Got it with a used Sigma 45/2.8.

How are you liking this combo? I also just bought a SL for $2300 and await its arrival.
