The last time snow was a big problem was 2011 when the city essentially shut down. I was stuck on a bus for over 8 hours no more than 2 miles from home, but the conditions were too dangerous to try and walk home.

Gosh.  Hope it was better this year!

Went out to a local grill last night and got a few shots of the master in action.  Unfortunately, the show was better than the food.

One more shot of my wife attempting to catch a tossed broccoli tidbit. It was quite dark in there so was pushing ISO 6400 most of the time.

Shrewsbury is really nice. I sometimes stayed there when I was for business reasons in Telford. Very cool for photography on foggy evenings.

Here it is still winter. It was a very nice walk up the mountain and drive down with the sleds with some good friends:

Shrewsbury presumably, but for a moment I thought it might be Hereford.

Yes, sorry, I should have said. Shrewsbury, though can see why you might think Hereford, Chester also maybe, similar towns.  Of course Shrewsbury the best😀, many wonderful old buildings, must have been a wicked lot too given the amount of spires the towns holds.  Probably not obvious from the top image, #7776 but you are looking at 2 churches, St. Alkmunds Church, and St. Julians, very close together.

The Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, Cornwall, Cotswolds.....they get the best tourist publicity in England. But as a place to live (outside my home country of north Somerset), I would pick Shropshire, for Shrewsbury, Church Stretton, Ludlow, Bridgnorth, the Severn and the hills (Long Mynd, Titterstone Clee, Brown Clee.....).

Church building in the Middle Ages was about bragging rights. I’m a richer wool merchant and can afford to build a bigger more ornate church. And of course my generosity gives me fast track to heaven with no questions asked. You can track the growth of wealth in almost any town and city in Europe (try Florence) by the ages of the churches and how many were built over a short time span.
