Advertisement Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Hi zeromx, Take a look here New Leica ME typ 240 DNG File ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted October 30, 2019 Share #2 Posted October 30, 2019 Why on earth wouldn't you be able to open one? Both the computer and Photoshop are perfectly able to do so. ACR has no problems and DNGs can be opened on my mid-2010 Macpro, 1013 Macbook Pro, 2011 Macbook Air, etc. In fact, at least since Snow Leopard. CaseyS Posted October 30, 2019 Share #4 Posted October 30, 2019 As a side note, the latest version of Apples IOS 13 fully supports .DNG files in the Apple Photos app. (In the previous version of IOS .DNG photos were pixelated until edited in the app) I use a 2015 MB Pro and have zero issues with .DNG in Lightroom. Rus Posted November 1, 2019 Share #9 Posted November 1, 2019 Am I missing something here or isn’t the ME the same as the regular typ240? There must be typ240 DNGs lying around online for download?
lct Posted November 1, 2019 Share #10 Posted November 1, 2019 Couple of links to M240 DNG files below. I did not record their source(s) so i don't know if they are protected by copyright. No problem to open them with Macs since 2013 anyway.http://www.rawsamples.ch/raws/leica/RAW_LEICA_M240.DNGhttps://dyw7ncnq1en5l.cloudfront.net/focus/articles/1634/leica-m-exemple2.DNGhttps://dyw7ncnq1en5l.cloudfront.net/focus/articles/1634/leica-m-exemple4.DNG

I'm sure you will have none, no matter which DNG are you trying to open.

fotomas Posted December 1, 2019 Share #13 Posted December 1, 2019 Hello, I only have a M 240, so I can't offer a file of a M-E. But I also run an old system (for a lot of reasons) and here it worked. But could be that the DNG file of the M-E is different. I was interested in the X-U and made a test at the Photokina and had to realize that my C1 refused to open the files. Before I always thought the DNG is DNG so that every software will work with it since Adobe has established it as a standard. But looks like they also included a kind for version-management into it, maybe to force you upgrade your software. So it's wise to proof before if you can go on with your preferred workflow with the new camera. Since it is so new it might be hard to find one with an M-E here, but maybe you can test one at your dealer or at a Leica store.
jaapv Posted December 1, 2019 Share #14 Posted December 1, 2019 The ME - and original M240 files are identical.
jaeger Posted December 2, 2019 Share #15 Posted December 2, 2019 My 10 years old macbookpro works with DNG flawlessly. DNG is a standard and doesn't matter what camera generate them. I'm not sure what the OP wanna accomplish.
jaapv Posted December 2, 2019 Share #16 Posted December 2, 2019 Yes, but there are DNG variants, like the M8 used a LUT, and the Monochrom1 a linear DNG, the latter resulting in compatibility problems with Mac OS. Which have been solved since. The problem is that not all developers implement the full DNG standard, or update to the latest version, leaving out rarely used aspects. read here about the versions of DNG: http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/articles/dng/specification.htm Note: not https, you may have to allow the site in your browser. But, as said, M240 DNGs date back to 2012 and should not give the slightest problem.
