I bought the Q2 primarily for the sensor…never had an interest in the Q. I know people seem to like the SL2S, but 24mp is a big step down for my work, which often features large prints and/or large crops. I also much prefer the SL2 sensor even to the one I had in the S3. The magic of the Q2 is that it puts the fantastic color and clean, sharp detail of that sensor in a more manageable body. I only wish that it just had an L mount, rather than a fixed lens. "I only wish that it just had an L mount, rather than a fixed lens." I as well.

Olaf_ZG Posted October 16, 2022 Share #42 Posted October 16, 2022 I bought this lens to photograph my friend horse riding, but recently I also took the lens to some walks into the forrest. Here are some images, this lens performs great! Welcome, dear visitor! Planetwide Posted October 22, 2022 Share #44 Posted October 22, 2022 This is a very sharp lens. Quite a bit sharper than any other 70-200mm F4 that I have tested- I've been through a few over the years. I have found with Panasonic lenses, that you need an accommodating dealer. Testing each lens is important, as there is some variation between samples. I managed to find a very good 16-35mm, and even better 24-105mm and a stellar 70-200mm F4. My advice, is go to your local dealer, be nice, and test a few samples...
Photoworks Posted October 22, 2022 Share #45 Posted October 22, 2022 I just had a bunch of lenses here from Panasonic . Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I think most of them are going back as not good enough one you compare. P 24-105 f4, P 70-200- f4 and P 20-60 . the first 2 are going back, Leica and sigma zooms are so much better, sharpness just in the center is not enough for me in all cases. I understand this are budget lenses and better for filming. The P20-60 finds a place in my bag to replace the M 21mm 3,4. hoolyproductions Posted April 26, 2024 Share #50 Posted April 26, 2024 (edited) I'm dredging up this thread as I have some interest in this lens. I have a trip to Scotland coming up in June and am thinking about something lighter than my 90-280mm for landscape shots. I'll mostly be travelling by car (with some longer walks/hikes) so taking the 90-280mm is not a major issue, but I do appreciate a lighter bag. My 24-90mm will be my main lens. I also have the tiny Sigma 17mm f/4 in case I want to shoot wider, and will use this basically as a 17-24mm with cropping. Ideally Sigma (or someone) would produce a relatively light 200mm or 300mm prime around f4 (along the lines of their recent 500mm, which I think would be a bit too much on the long side next to a 90mm). Meanwhile I'm looking at this Pana 70-200mm f/4 (but I would only really use it from 135-200mm) and the Sigma 100-400mm. I've previously owned a Pana 70-300mm which is very light but I was not enchanted by its performance. The 70-200mm f4 lens seems to be characterised by (mostly) poor reviews but the shots here look quite fine to me so I am curious what you all think about this lens after further experience. My sensible brain tells me to (i) live without the longer focal length - it's a holiday and its good to travel light (ii) just take the 90-280mm; it would be a pain when carrying all my stuff through the airport and to the hotel etc, but no big deal once we've packed our stuff in our hire car. I think it's not unlikely that we see a 200 or 300mm prime in the next future so perhaps I should just keep my GAS in check 😀 Edited April 26, 2024 by hoolyproductions
jaapv Posted April 26, 2024 Share #51 Posted April 26, 2024 Sigma 70-200 2.8 😉 If you read the reviews, it is a fantastic lens. Mine is coming in today or tomorrow.

Thanks, I thought about that too, although then the weight starts to creep upwards towards the heavier lenses. There is currently a second hand 70-200mm f4 with a local dealer, which is part of what provoked the question.
Planetwide Posted April 26, 2024 Share #53 Posted April 26, 2024 Test the Pana lens, because there is some variation between copies. Once you get a good one, its a great lens.

The lenses I have returned were really bad (to say the least), sharp only at the bottom of the images or very soft at the long end. But once you get a good copy, these two lenses are fantastic. Olaf_ZG Posted April 26, 2024 Share #55 Posted April 26, 2024 I was very happy with mine, and size plus weight was very convenient as well. I sold it cause I upgraded to the 90-280.
