Yes yes and yes

Yes I have an amazing website

Yes I use my iPad Pro to edit my pictures.......not that I do/need much editing

Yes it's a shame about your English........ But with me being a man of the world I understand where your coming from.

Neil

Well.. you still didn't post your dng's though... I think you haven understand yet my request and the whole point of my comment!

I did not PRAISE the quality of your webpage (just referred to the advanced purchasing facility). Editing photos on an uncalibrated iPad is not optimal especially if you intend to print your photos! The colour profiles on these devices are misleading..

If you are happy with your phone then that's fine... By the way have you realised that the photos you posted are flipped on the vertical axis?

The Q2 image is far superior to the Huawei, both in detail rendering and tonal and contrast renditions. The rainbow shot only underscores this. I think part of it has to do with the iPad, which is too "poppy" and contrasty (translate: pleasing to the target buyer group) to give an optimal rendering. Notwithstanding, the Huawei is not bad at all.

Of course it is Jaspv.........were talking on the Leica forum.

On the Huawei forum they prefer the Huawei picture........ Go figure.

As for the rainbow it was taken on the move as there was a horendious Storm coming in and my beer was getting warm.

I think the Huawei takes jpeges. My Q2 is set to 3rrr I think

Neil

Cool so you prefer the jpeges from your phone to the ones from your camera! All power to you then! Have fun with your new phone and your quality observation is noted and evaluated from us!

Nothing to do with the forum, everything with image quality. But be happy with your new toy 😇

I am and that's all it is. My Q2 is also a toy and considribly more expensive that the phone.

My photography is now just for fun. FB forums and sharing with family and friends who look at my pictures on a mobile device.

I enjoy looking at the high end pictures on here especially the film stuff, but for me golf and cycling floats my boat,🚴‍♀️🏌️🚴‍♀️🏌️🍻🥰🥰

I am sure that if you added those three lines at your original post everyone would understand and agree with the point you tried to make... In the context you are using your photography equipment, I am pretty sure that your phone (or any phone) can take pretty good shots...

Hi Neil,

You asked me to explain my comment. Sorry for my late reply....time difference...I live in New Zealand.

I appreciate your post, it raises a very interesting subject regarding the advance of the photographic capability within smartphone technology.

However regarding why I see the Q2 streets ahead. I use my Leica as a sketch book as I am an artist and use photos as a guide for my paintings and drawings. What is important to me is capturing the subtlety of changes of light from dark to light, the transitions of one colour to another and the quality of the rendering of hard and soft edges. Normally I compare my photos with the actual subject  but here it was between your two photos. In fact I see the  difference so major that although my pocket would be crying out to purchase the smartphone,  I would have no choice but to purchase the Q2 to do the job if these were my only choices.

It’s not a smartphone vs camera thing but a photo vs photo comment.

The problem I have is when I look through the photos presented from the various post on this forum I really can’t tell the difference between the Leica cameras being used and wonder is there something I am missing. From that perspective I also wonder why Leica just don’t produce one camera.

Phones can take incredibles good photos this day. But talking only about the quality of the files there is still a huge gap between a camera and a phone. They are simply not comparable in my opinion; or they are only on a phone or a notepad screen at low resolution, out of that it’s simply a no match.

For your purposes the phone cam is plenty good enough. Why waste your time with anything else?

That's what I'm thinking

Surprising; You spent so much effort on getting into photography over the years and now that you are retired and have the spare time to indulge in your hobby you are pulling out. Human beings are weird animals...

Which serious photographer wouldn’t see the difference between your smartphone and Q photos?

Its day and night.

But those who aren't serious photographers, but look at photographs for other reasons than the esoteric criteria complained of here, might very well appreciate the Huawei on the same level as the Q2. If you only take photos for appreciation by serious photographers (I try hard not to be one) then of course you won't be satisfied with a smartphone. No surprises here.
