I have tried searching for this question without success.  Is there a less expensive option for a lens cap for the 35MM Summicron?  I have now lost my third one and at $35 for a replacement that has a tendency to fall or get bumped off it's getting frustrating.  Must be knock offs somewhere.

I'm looking for hood cap.  Should have been more specific.

If this is the 14043 hood cap there is no substitute to it AFAIK. Better use a cap holder (link) or let the cap in the box and use a propective filter instead if you have nothing against those filters.

A long time ago I learned my lesson with the 14043 lens cap, I lost it but knew where I must have lost it so drove back, walked the trail, and found it. From then on I found I didn't need it, my camera bag is clean, the lens hood protects the front element, and if I was going anywhere wet or sandy I'd put a protective filter on anyway, so the stupid 14043 cap is in the drawer labelled 'misc' with all the other junk that isn't needed day to day.

+1. It is redundant indeed. Besides, it does not stick well enough to the hood, so it will fall off anyway in your clean bag. The department Hoods at Leica needs a tough evaluation of their functioning

I also learnt the stupidity of the 14043 cap the hard way, briefly losing mine on Holy Island and probably upsetting a lot of pilgrims with my knowledge of Anglo-Saxon invective.

Retracing my steps for about 100 metres, I found it and vowed never to use the thing again.  It  has lived in a zipped pocket in one of my camera bags since then.

Sometimes I take it out and laugh at it before putting it away again.
