I’m in the UK myself and missed that one, presumably it was not on ebay or mpb?

I bought it at Aperture about a month ago and picked it up early this week when I was in London. They had it on display still with a «sold» sticker on it, told me that quite a few people had tried to purchase it in those weeks in between.  It’s still very new to me but I’m really happy with the camera so far, having lots of fun using it and loving the results.

After regretting selling my M-D in 2020 I have just bought another with serial number 4987611 with brassing at the edges. Just looking on eBay I have seen my previous M-D 4987111 at a lot higher price than I bought it for and higher than the one I have just bought.

Hi and welcome back to the -D world! I try to keep an eye on prices and that one you just got is a very good deal indeed, the second lowest I have ever seen. It was up for sale earlier in the year for more, but I have noticed that M-Ds with obvious brassing sell much less quickly or for a lower price. There was one other in that price range two years ago on mpb and it was also well brassed. I think people unfamiliar with brassingo must assume the camera has been roughly handled or has a million shots on it or something. I suspect that some people must really like the effect and use a bit a sandpaper to encourage it, so those camera probably are in great shape internally.

Wow, that’s wild! I bought mine for £1000 less than the quote on your old camera, and it’s in pristine condition, had been thoroughly looked over, and came with a six-month guarantee.

Hi all, I've not long ago picked up 4998779 from Classic Camera and am thoroughly enjoying the camera! Also recently added a(nother!) 35mm pre-asph Summilux and what a great combo!

Thanks for the serial number, it’s a new one to me. I too have had a 35mm 1.4 glued to my M-D for about two years now (Zeiss Distagon) and every picture makes me smile — when taking it (expose, focus, click and nothing else) and also when opening up the file later …
