You’re welcome. One more day and I would have emailed Albert myself. 😂

yes, Chaemono, i was also thinking about getting a different full-frame non-SLR camera body, Sony Nikon or similar - but none of those comes with the feel of a film camera.  i want to work like in the past with my Rolleiflex 2.8GX, Hasselblad 500c, Fuji 690, or even the small 35mm Rolley.  only the M10-D can replicate this and offer a kind of blind and undisturbed work flow.

in the past i had no problem purchasing used mechanical cameras, but in these electronic days i prefer to buy new items, at least in the case of this expensive Leica toy which will empty my wallet down to the last cent.  i don't have the time nor money to deal with problems that could arise from purchasing from the wrong place.  B&H in NY is an excellent store i always made good experience with, but i don't have (yet) the 8 grands...  perhaps i should wait a bit, save more and then go with B&H ?  or risk the amazonian (global) route ?

Open box or demo might be a consideration. That shaves considerable $ off the cost and  it is still coming with full warranty.

so, my new M10D was finally given into my hands, and it's evidently a fantastic beast which totally reminds me of the good old times when working with film.  moreover, i am pleasantly surprised with what ease my 'eye' still seems to remember the ISO/speed/aperture settings for a given light scenario.  not that one couldn't use the M10D's light meter - i just like to play with the buttons and set them before taking the picture.

in any case, many thanks to everybody here encouraging and pushing me with much chuzpah to make the deal with that big company (see earlier posts in this thread).

and now comes the difficult part which is taking picture of some value, general value, artistic value...

i desperately want to buy a Leica M10-D as i have several Summilux lenses waiting for a body, for years already, but i simply couldn't afford the price of USD 8K.  now, i recently noticed the M10-D at Amazon.com sold for 6.4K.  is that price real ?  is the camera truly sold by Amazon i trust, and not by some shabby NY company selling the product for a similar price ?  is there any disadvantage going with Amazon ?  thanks in advance for any feedback.  bye, pisti

Your favorite seller has an even better deal on Amazon now. See here: https://www.amazon.com/Leica-Mirrorless-Digital-Professional-Cleaning/dp/B07TZ6LLYK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?keywords=Leica+SL&qid=1568834234&refinements=p_85:2470955011&rnid=2470954011&rps=1&s=gateway&sr=8-11&linkCode=sl1&tag=stehufpho-20&linkId=6468864c741fb43ad21740ca4d06f61a&language=en_US

The 6th Ave guys are simply the best.

I also recently purchased the M10-D from 6th Avenue Electronics. At $6,991 (no sales tax), the price was higher than the original poster of this thread; however, the Amazon Prime credit card gives a 5% rebate on all Amazon purchases, which brought the final price more or less in line. The camera arrived promptly, but 6th Ave packaging leaves a lot to be desired: inside the package was the camera box with one “air pillow” for padding.
