isn't this picture simply unsharp?

In real life, my eyes often just look in some direction without actually focusing on anything particular. Maybe I am thinking of something else, but I can’t just stop seeing unless I close my eyes. A photograph without any particular focus may serve to describe such a mood or feeling. I don’t know if that was the photographers intention in this case, however.

If one looks for clarity, or sharpness one should not be in the Noctilux  f1 forum.. That 'one' should look for context, composition, meaning, denotative and connotative levels of signs, etc, etc, rather than a 'simple' clarity.

And most of the time life is obscure, as in the photograph, leaving behind an old question concerning ambiguity..

I understand now. But at the same time I understand nothing. Is the Noctilux about to make unsharp pictures? If it is the intention to have the image blured then the Noctilux makes little sense (to me) as this effect is possible with any other lens. Probably one needs the new 90mm Noctilux as with that one it is even easier to shoot unsharp images. I agree though that it might be an intention to have nothing sharp on an image but that this is now in this thread it is rather strange.

But pls do not feel offended. When I see all the LIKES in the posts above then I feel to be in the wrong thread.

Real intention was a blurry image.. You can achieve this with a 90mm, say, Summicron-M 90mm pre-asph lens, but the perspective will be different. And this f1 aperture, and the glasses used in the lens definitely produce this 'dream-like' images which is impossible to achieve with a Cron-90 pre-asph. in this perspective.

All things in my view are transformed by the Noctilux 1.0. A very elegant explanation Metin. Evikne's point is good also, "Most of the time life is obscure". Actually these two photographers, among others and their shared images/experience is why I sought this lens.

No hat

Thanks for the reference Patty, very much appreciated!.. This lens gives you opportunities to create different visions, meanings in which you think that you are getting closer and closer to the essence of the things, and our existence.. Beyond technik lies a deep obscurity full of intrigue and drama... This lens is not for everyone, but the one who needs to transcends reality.

Best regards,

Metin Colak.

That's the first decent picture I have ever seen using a Noctilux wide open. Well done!

Well done, Milan, this is one of the only sensible shots I have ever seen using a 0.95 Noctilux.

It looks like we're gradually helping you to understand what makes some Noctilux pictures so special. 😄

It has take an age and then Milan has finally managed to get the object in focus. I still think the lens is a waste of space!

Ah now, don't spoil it.  You were doing so well there for a while.
