Received my Q2 from District Camera yesterday. Canceled my B&H order already so hopefully that will help someone. Well worth the wait for the Q2 😃🤩

Good luck chaps. Heard the current order backlog is 9-12 months for new orders.

Problem is people making multiple orders at different vendors. One person has 6 pre-orders just waiting for 1st delivery then cancel rest.

why don’t Leica allocate to existing Leica owners first? They are known from camera registration details.

i doubt I will wait for the SL2 if this is Leicas policy. Might as well buy the S1R & avoid the wait

Nice strap! I also got mine from District Camera last week (think one of the two available). Lovely camera as expected! Ended up going with an Artisan & Artist silk rope strap for mine.

Thank you! I got my strap from here: http://www.angelo-pelle.com/neck-strap-for-leica.html    Just looked up your strap also. I like it 👍

Boston Leica has received (and sold) 20 so far.  They’re advising at least two months wait but wouldn’t say how many are on the waitlist.

Curiously, very very few dealers are willing to be transparent about their wait list...

Perhaps a requirement of a small (say $100) non-refundable deposit would help. It would reduce the number of persons on multiple store waitlists and provide Leica with a more accurate estimate of pre-orders. The stores could allow customers a store credit (buy a case, Filter, accessory, etc)  if the customer buys elsewhere or subsequently changes their mind.

However the above presumes that Leica pays attention to market demand and cares about customer satisfaction, neither of which I am convinced of.

I don't really think multiple pre-orders are the issue. Cameras are rolling out very slowly from Wetzlar. Communication to the dealers (both Leica and third party) is poor. Those are the two issues.

Oh I completely agree. In my semi-sarcastic last sentence I allude to your point. Wetzlar is simply pushing out whatever amount they can produce in a given production run. In an odd way they are in an enviable position insofar that demand exceeds supply. If I drop out of the queue for the Q2 someone else will simply take my place.

I got quite lucky here in the UK.  Within 3 days of deciding to get a Q2 I got one.  I did call all reputable retailers including 2 Leica stores and all but one told me I would have to wait up to 18 months to get one.  I got it from an official Leica retailer that buyers don’t always go to as the port port of call.  Perhaps that is why the had one available.

There is availability, if you’re willing to travel to Germany. 😁

Of course!  That way Wetzlar maximizes profit margins, including shipping and distribution costs.

+1. That’s the way to do it. There are smaller dealers in Germany where buyers usually don’t go to buy Leica gear and who get stock in one at a time. There is one photoshop in Muenster that had a Q2 available for sale online on Wednesday, gone by Thursday, another one available yesterday, gone by today. I guess in the next two weeks he’ll get one more and I could easily pick it up if I wanted to. But I don’t want to. 😁
