  • DAVIDMC100 changed the title to Multiplication factor for M Lenses

1.5 is the multiplier. So you are right with your focal lengths.

Actually you are right too with saying "make them work like". Of course the focal length of an existing lens stay unchanged.

By the way 35 x 1.5 equals 53mm not 47. And note that the lenses you have are not exactly the focal length that is written on the body. It is aprox. that focal length.

Actually it does not really change the field of view, as that depends on the subject distance. Move backwards with a cropped sensor and you'll have the same field of view, albeit with a different perspective.

Sensor crop changes the angle of view.

Multiple focal length and aperture x1.5 to get an idea of the lens will look like on APS-C. Field of view and depth of field wise.

It is just that simple. No need to know read the scientific fine prints.

Summilux-TL 1.4/35mm mounted on a CL will look like a 2,.1/53mm wide open. Close enough to a Summicron-M 2/50mm mounted on a M10. Actually almost all 50mm are 52mm, just rounded to 50mm, for marketing sake.

I guess the answer is better get a w-i-d-e angle.....?21mm perhaps

If you like to shoot with very wide angle lenses, 21mm isn't a particularly wide focal length on APS-C. That's why Leica makes the TL11-23mm lens for the APS-C line...

15mm x 1.5 = 22mm on the CL. CV 15/4.5 v2 here (Summilux 35/1.4 v2 in the background)
