Thanks Albert, indeed when direct uploading colour images from my computer via Firefox created drab and unsaturated colours here on LUF. I now either link directly from SmugMug (which Jaapv doesn't like, but he's in Africa at the moment, so who cares? 😉) or upload via Chrome and all the colours are exactly as vivid as the original version my computer.

For Monochrome there's no problem.

Perhaps you need to calibrate your monitors?

Had to remove number plate details otherwise chuffed with this Summicron 35mm image taken with the M11. ISO 640, F4.8, 1/250th

Why did you have to remove the license plate details? Looks like a public street.

Thanks for the suggestion.

but:
My monitor is calibrated
On my computer and uploading/linking via SmugMug everything looks OK on my monitor
Direct uploading to LUF via Firefox makes the colours drab on my monitor
Direct uploading to LUF via Chrome looks OK on my monitor

I don't see how an uncalibrated monitor could cause this problem.

might help with firefox:

about:config   [just paste it in the address bar]

set gfx.color_management.mode to 1 and gfx.color_management.enablev4 to true.

Thanks, Those are exactly my settings, so that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Uploading to SmugMug via firefox is flawless (and then liking to LUF is also flawless)
Uploading directly to LUF via firefox is a problem (lower saturated/drab colours)

So my "work around" to avoid the colour problem by direct uploading to LUF is to use Chrome for that.

I don't see how an uncalibrated monitor could cause this problem.

Given you description, it looks like the uploading app may not be sending the calibration information when you up load it. If either the generating monitor or the receiving monitor is uncalibrated then differences may be observed. If the generating monitor and the receiving monitor are the same, i. e. on the same computer then the fact the copy that never left your computer looks different from the one you uploaded indicates the color mapping data was either not sent or not being returned when you view the image you uploaded.
