Infantasy Posted August 10, 2021 Share #422  Posted August 10, 2021 For your reference, I mount a B+W nano slim filter with a small rubber band into 12504. It can securely fix the filter and can reduce some glow of the lenses.

Will be a very DIY approach I'm definitely not a lens tester. Mainly I'm interested to see sharpness and contrast of my own copies stopped down past F2 etc Welcome, dear visitor! The 35mm IV Summicron and pre asph Summilux do seem extremely similar in rendering, obviously from F2 onwards and perhaps one is better off just acquiring the Summilux. Trouble is I own said Summicron and, you know what it’s like, you just can’t bring yourself to part with it.

Its funny you say that about the Cron V4  because I took mine out today and did think  I probably shouldn't sell it.  Although for me, the main appeal is the size. Even though I agree the images render very similarly from 2/2.8 onwards I just don't seem to get the undefinable 'wow' factor from the v4 that I get with my pre-asph But portability is another factor to be considered and it made a lovely small grab and go today Edited August 24, 2021 by grahamc
grahamc Posted August 24, 2021 Share #434  Posted August 24, 2021 (edited) Just a quick snapshot on last outing with the 1.4 pre at what would've been within the aperture range of my cron, but i don't seem to get quite the same results /character out of my cron - always seems comparatively a little flat 'in the real world'. Welcome, dear visitor! Exactly ! I may try a cla on mine. I really don’t think there’s anything functionally wrong with it but I am generally a little underwhelmed with it compared to my other lenses (inc 40mm rokkor ) admittedly it’s a long shot Edited August 24, 2021 by grahamc
lct Posted August 24, 2021 Share #436  Posted August 24, 2021 Similarity between 35/1.4 v2 and 35/2 v4 was not obvious when i bought the latter in the eighties and remains so today. I found/find the 35/2 v4 more contrasty with different color rendition and less flare than the 35/1.4 v2. Not the same generation of lenses in my feeling but i like both. My favorite would be a mix of them, Lux at f/1.4 for the glow and Cron for the rest. Now that sort of mix does exist nowadays, the CV 35/1.4 v2 in SC version. It has even a steel rim go figure .
grahamc Posted August 24, 2021 Share #437  Posted August 24, 2021 Interesting @lct I’d pick my Lux across the full aperture range . I think I might get my cron looked at just in case it’s not performing optimally atm 🤔
