Last one for now. Since I don’t like to own too many lenses I am now on the fence to keep and getting rid of my 35 summicron or return the summilux. Or keep both…

When I got mine I had similar thoughts about my 40 mm summicron. I did some tests and decided they were different enough to keep both, each with its own appeal.

This pre-asph Summilux is very attractive...but my preferred focal length is definitely 50 🙂

In terms of rendering, what 50mm do you think would be the closest? (if any)

I would put forward the 50:1.4 v3 (pre-ASPH).   I think these 2 lenses would make a lovely pair

My 35:1.4 v3 back from repair (broken focus tab) and happy to get a nice pic first run out.  I do love this lens

This is so great!

BTW, I assume you mean “v2”, not “v3”?

Thanks!  Just before a storm rolled in and soaked us on the way home .    Ah yes of course, my lens has been away so long I forgot the naming .  Cheers Ernst, now corrected

Best team ever! And weighs almost nothing.

This is a great combo! But I think the 50mm lux pre-asph v2/3 rendering wide open is not as magical as the 35mm lux. If you want a similar glow wide open to the summilux 35mm f1.4, while also being sharp from f2.8, then in the 50mm lineup I can think of three examples:

- Summilux pre-asph 50mm f1.4 V1 (Chrome, slight different optics to the V2)

- Summicron Collapsible 50mm V1

- Noctilux 50mm f1.2 (remake obviously)
