If you take the hood off, it then unscrews into two pieces. Drop the filter into the back of the hood, and screw the rear part back into the hood.

I hope that makes sense.

Amazing.  I knew there was something simple I wasn't grasping :D  Cheers for this.  off shooting.

My Fuji 100v is now filterless.  What a shame :P

How do you how use 'Leica glow' ??

Sorry I can NOT go further, after using this lens for some decades, I see the wide open as something to avoid or use when I wanted some 'glow' in

spot lights.

I don't have at hand example from 1.4/35 but here is what I mean with Noctilux 1.0 wide open and spot light at night,

no sun stars which would ruin the image

Very quick test run wide-open with newly-delivered 35mm 1.4 Pre-ASPH v2 @ MD-262.  I think I'm really going to enjoy this lens .  Didn't really experience any particularly unruly flaring on the test run.  Overall definitely fits the look I was hoping to get when acquiring this lens

Planning to do some pretty rudimentary side by sides with my Summicron v4 later to compare performance if anyone's interested I can share . Will be a very DIY approach I'm definitely not a lens tester. Mainly I'm interested to see sharpness and contrast of my own copies stopped down past F2 etc

Thanks - I've bookmarked this to answer future "What is this "Leica Glow" " questions. Literally the poster-child for the subject..... ;)

I should have mentioned, that is a pretty aggressive crop— here is the original and one more.

Very nice @JMF

Another beach, on my first outing with the new (to me) Titan v2 today in a. quick f1.4 test.

Although it was just a little too bright and I didn't have an ND .

And stopped down to F8 appears very sharp.  I think I will love this lens and can now see the comparison to the 35 pre-asph crons at narrower apertures .  It's not looking great for my v4 cron at this point but lets see

The 35mm IV Summicron and pre asph Summilux do seem extremely similar in rendering, obviously from F2 onwards and perhaps one is better off just acquiring the Summilux. Trouble is I own said Summicron and, you know what it’s like, you just can’t bring yourself to part with it.

Its funny you say that about the Cron V4  because I took mine out today and did think  I probably shouldn't sell it.   Although for me, the main appeal is the size. Even though I agree the images render very similarly from 2/2.8 onwards I just don't seem to get the undefinable 'wow' factor from the v4 that I get with my pre-asph

But portability is another factor to be considered and it made a lovely small grab and go today :D

Just a quick snapshot on last outing with the 1.4 pre at what would've been within the aperture range of my cron, but i don't seem to get quite the same results /character out of my cron - always seems comparatively a little flat 'in the real world'.

Exactly !

I may try a cla on mine. I really don’t think there’s anything functionally wrong with it but I am generally a little underwhelmed with it compared to my other lenses (inc 40mm rokkor )

admittedly it’s a long shot

Similarity between 35/1.4 v2 and 35/2 v4 was not obvious when i bought the latter in the eighties and remains so today. I found/find the 35/2 v4 more contrasty with different color rendition and less flare than the 35/1.4 v2. Not the same generation of lenses in my feeling but i like both. My favorite would be a mix of them, Lux at f/1.4 for the glow and Cron for the rest. Now that sort of mix does exist nowadays, the CV 35/1.4 v2 in SC version. It has even a steel rim go figure :D.

bought in 2017 we had love and hate with this lens! now it's just love

I have the same experience. I ended up selling it after a short time. But then I regretted and bought a new one, and now it has become my favorite lens!

I’m using mine on a CCD rangefinder, don’t know whether that makes a difference or not.
