But all the Billingham references must be removed from the bag.

Not sure that really matters as the cloth tab is very small. The leather oval sewn on to the outside of the flap has the Billingham name embossed into it but it's hard to read unless you are up close to the bag.

I my case, I'm 6'5", 255 lbs and a 4th degree black belt, so I'm not to worried about being attacked for my bag. If I'm held up a gun point, I have insurance for full replacement cost.  :)

I am surprised think tank doesnt come up more often. Maybe not a leica bag.

Billingham seems quite popular.

You’re not looking enough... it comes up routinely. Don’t forget thread titles that include backpacks, bags for airport, bags big enough for laptop, bags for the SL, etc, etc.

As for a satchel style bag, in no particular order:

Billingham Hadley Pro, 225 or 335

Filson Rugged Twill Field Bag (Medium or Small)

Langly Crossbody

Domke F-803, F-6 or F-4 AF

Wotancraft Trooper Interior Module Shoulder Bag (Medium or Small)

Fogg Last Waltz or B-Laïka

There are many excellent choices; the above are my favorites, although I have not owned and used all of them.

Not available in the UK (Asda are the equivalent) but I like Co-op bags myself - their cloth ones are great and last very well and are recyclable when worn out. Not waterproof though so need a liner. I have a Billingham - I think its on top of a cupboard somewhere .....

If you want to carry your kit in a Walmart bag I’ll make damn sure you get one. :)

Much as your offer is appreciated, I think I will pass on it. I do have an ample sufficiency of supermarket bags which my cameras will fit into, but I mostly use an old, frayed, and rather less than immaculate rucksack - its scruffy enough to go pretty well unnoticed and is better on my back. Just back from a 10 day trip in which it served me well. Needless to say the design is ideal for cameras (with a Billingham insert) and so its no longer produced .....

Good thread - serves as a survey of bags.

Like the other 300 bag threads.

Jeff

It’s like the foto magazines, they keep on repeating the same story every x months, don’t know if they still do, but that was in the 80’s at least.

I actually thought this thread was started as a joke

I used to use ThinkTank bags until I discovered Billingham bags.

I think that the newer ThinkTank bags use velcro. I won't by any bag that uses velcro. Velcro is noisy (think photos inside churches) and eventually loses it's closure ability over the years. Velcro is also a magnet for lint.

Despite the tastes of more "traditional" M users, I prefer the Peak Design Everyday Sling 5L. Easily carries 1-2 bodies with an extra lens or two (small ones, because rangefinder), plus goodies. It looks nothing like a camera bag, more like a fanny pack, which it doubles as) and I like to fit the whole messenger bag inside my Patagonia black hole backpack (20L) while traveling.

Something for the millennials... https://www.peakdesign.com/everyday-sling-5

I’m using the same Peak Design 5L Everyday Sling, it fits my body with lens and 3 other lenses with room for spare batteries and other accessories. It’s the perfect size for when I don’t need a large backpack.
