Agree fully, but the M-mount Color-Skopar 25/4.0 IS RF coupled.

Earlier models of the Color-Skopar 25mm (the 'Snapshot Skopar' ... probably LTM only) were not, and had click-stops at various distance settings that matched to a good selection of depth of field ranges for fast use in scale focus setting. I had one of those at one time, always used on an M-mount camera with the LTM->M adapter. :)

Just got a used VC 21mm f/1.8 m mount for my CL for ~$750. I tested it out yesterday. It's a wonderful lens. I have all the L-mount zooms, but I also have a full range of faster primes, including the VC 15mm f/4.5, Zeiss 35mm f/2, Zeiss 50mm f/2, and VC 75mm f/1.8.

The new one is vastly improved - optically as well I suspect.

Hi everyone...

If you'd had a Leica CL Prime Kit with Elmarit-TL 18mm and - despite the, in my opinion, pretty to negligible difference - you'd be interested to the Leica Summicron-T 23mm f/2 ASPH, would you buy the latter or will you get at the same or lower price a Fujifilm X100F?

If you can fairly evaluate a Leica CL with a Fuji X100F and primarily use price as the determinng factor about the smarter purchase, then you should also be able to equally compare the X100F with an Olympus OM-D E-M10 III and the Zuiko 17mm lens, which cost the same as the Fuji, but you also get built in image stabilization in the Oly body.  The Oly may have and even smaller sensor, but otherwise it does a great job.

I don't have an X 100. I do have an XPro2 and the various lenses.

The Fuji should suit me. An AF M system. But I'd choose (and did) the 23mm for the CL.

I also think its as good or better than the 23mm 1.4 Fuji.

If that's at all relevant to the X100.

Actually, I most often carry the superb Pen F.

Optically they are identical. I have the 'snapshot' version which I use on my lllf, wonderful little lens and I can focus purely by feeling the click stops, great for street photography where you can focus holding the camera down and then raise it to take the shot.

Hmm. That's at odds to what Cosina/Voigtländer told me. According to them, they only upgraded the mount to M-mount and added the rangefinder coupling. I didn't see any difference in the image quality between the "snapshot" lens and the later M-mount model I had. Both worked very nicely.

I know the design is unaltered. However I would be surprised if the precision of polishing, coatings and tolerances hadn't been improved over the years. If not, so be it.

Anyway, we all seem to agree on the quality of the lens

Really only 1 question here, do you want to carry 1 or 2 cameras ?.....I'm in the 1 camera camp and to be honest, I actually love my 18mm   I will be adding a 55-135 next as I have old Leica 40 90 and 135 lenses and want to reduce my carry further, the 18 will go when I go for an 11-23   and the 40 will go when I grab a 35 'lux TL....that way my 'Holy Grail' kit will be CL + 11-23, 35 and 55-135 T lenses...what more could I need (note , not want! :-) )

If menu systems were similar from Fuji and Leica I would buy the Fuji however each camera has it's buttons, menus, lcds and they're all different, also post processing will be different.    For me I would buy the 23mm and stay with one body/one system.  In the wide angle range the lenses may be only a few millimeters different but each millimeter is significant so I wouldn't hesitate to own 18mm and 23mm.

I would only carry one camera and the lens mounted on it. I thuink that 23mm is a versatile focus lenght so I wouldn’t have any problems going out with it and I believe that getting a spare camera that enables me to shoot macro too would ne nice, so I decided that the Fujifilm x100f would be the right choice for me.

This.

The 35/2 ASPH I and II are officially only different in the aperture blades and lens hood, but there is vastly different performance.

We have gotten to the point where sensors are high resolution enough that even old M glass is showing differences in central resolution.
