xiaubauu2009 Posted October 6, 2018 Share #221 Posted October 6, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I can confirm this. Painful slow (even with a very powerful computer). There is an updated firmware for the DP and SD Quattro that allows to use the DNG format. But you may lose some of the Foveon advantages by using it. Not sure about it. I've not tested it yet. Yes, it's out, DNG, but really, if you want to use Foveon and decide that the post processing is tedious, then, it's better just to use a normal camera. You need the SPP to work with the original X3F Raw files to really get the Foveon goodness.
Advertisement Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Hi xiaubauu2009, Take a look here Leica S3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jon Warwick Posted October 6, 2018 Share #222 Posted October 6, 2018 Although that assumes the S1R has access to the same level of in-camera lens corrections as a Leica body, with lenses characterised at different focal lengths and apertures. We are yet to find out exactly how much information the L-mount consortium are sharing about their respective lens products: whether Leica glass will be as well corrected on a Panasonic body, or whether manufacturer-native glass will always be better corrected. Some info here (source = Red Dot Forum) about “Will SL lenses perform as well on non-Leica cameras ....”. It seems reassuring for those of us that plan to only use SL lenses, but may be open to Panasonic or Sigma bodies ..... https://www.reddotforum.com/content/2018/09/photokina-2018-details-on-the-l-mount-alliance/
