magixaxeman Posted October 20, 2018 Share #61 Posted October 20, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use a half case for one reason alone and its the same reason I have a "Thumbie" fitted as well, that's to aid gripping the camera. I'm not worried about how the camera looks, there's no "bling" on mine at all, even the soft release is a small convex plain black one that you hardly notice is there until you go to take a shot. I have to say here that the half case I bought (the same as JD Laing's) on eBay for £79.99 and the Thumbie for £34.99 where fantastic bargains when you consider just how much difference they make to the M10's usabillity for me or anyone else who has mobility problems with their hands I would imagine. The more people who don't use them, maybe the more comfortable I will be in not using one. Most of the times I use the Leica half case on both M10. At times with the back flap on and when shooting for client mostly without the back flap for easier review. I never had a shoot so intense - that I had to change the batteries in the middle of a shooting session. It also provides better grip.
LotharZhou Posted October 23, 2018 Share #63 Posted October 23, 2018 Without the half case, my M10 should have been cracked and damaged when it dropped onto the concrete floor.
budjames Posted October 23, 2018 Share #64 Posted October 23, 2018 I use the Leica half-cases on both of my M10s when I carry a single camera on a next strap. The case weighs just under 4 oz. When I carry both bodies and lenses in my Billingham Hadley Pro bag, I leave the half cases at home and save 8 oz. I am going to New Zealand and Australia for 4 weeks this winter. I will have the M10s in my bag with Gordy wrist straps and no half-cases. I will pack one half case in my carry on bag just in case I trek out with just a single camera and lens on a neck strap. Funny, but I don't use half cases on my two Fuji X cameras. I guess the high cost of Leicas makes me more protective. I also use the Leica thumb rest on both bodies as these makes the body less "slippery". I do like the feel of the naked body without the half case. It makes the camera feel smaller and a little lighter.
