APO Elmarit 180 R on SL.

Handheld, would I need an SL 90-280?

No need. But the 90-280mm range, with AF and stabilisation, can be handy. Sometimes. Still love the 280-R APO, though (despite having the 90-280SL). And there are excellent APO-extenders for the R-line. Nil for the SL, so far... Edited by helged

Thank you helged for this confirmation, I ordered the APO Extender 2x this weekend. Still breeding on that APO 4/280 R, with that extender I feel I have a better deal in combination with this 180 and the 280. Especially since I keep on being surprised by the handheld results.

This was made with The APO Elmarit-R 180/2.8 with the APO Extender 2x, makes 360/5.6 on the SL, handheld with windy weather, ISO 400, 1/750. With thanks to Helged for the little push to buy the APO Extender.

Summilux-R 50 f1.4 (E60) + Leica SL @f1.4. Cropped.

I shot a whole bunch of portraits of my grandchildren with this lens/camera combination on a recent visit. I don't think that I have ever had a 50mm lens that renders as beautifully.

Yes that was in my memory about this lens too, I was longing for it when I had my R8, but it’s so expensive, still. And I wonder if the Macro-Elmarit 60 can’t do the same, do you know that lens? Edited by otto.f

And one final grandchild pic from the Summilux-R 50 f1.4 (E60), this one at f2. I mainly want to show off the incredible rendering qualities of this lens for portraiture.
