Without pre-post fix/FW update exact pics... you are really just guessing.

I didn't notice any drastic changes after the FW update. I didn't look that closely though, since everything gets post processed.

The pool pics look very different from the cameras... but the they are shot from much different angle with regard to light. Your granddaughters cheek looks OK, and so does the water.

Have you tried reinstalling FW?

Jeff

Cannot reinstall firmware. Camera says: "Update file is same version as current firmware" and will not self activate.

Thank you for the suggestion, nonetheless.

I think there's something off at this point. Your points are well taken, but I'm just seeing something in the shots that is different from the way it was before, notwithstanding the different lighting and angles. I may go to Leica tomorrow and ask them to compare mine to theirs and see what comes of it.

I wonder if it will allow you to downgrade FW first.

Rob, do you import your .dng files to Lightroom using any presets?  If not, try clicking on Camera Calibration/Profile, change to "Embedded," and see if it makes a difference.

I use an import preset with that plus a few other tweaks to taste with both the M240 and CL and I get identical colors from both, same as when I had an SL.

No, I do not.

As mentioned, there is (what seems to me to be) a fairly dramatic change from pre-repair to now (which included Leica updating to the new firmware while it was in their possession).  I'm going to stop by Leica Miami tomorrow and see what comparison shots look like and then go from there.  Thanks, Rob

Easiest way to check is to compare your camera against another with the same FW and settings. They should produce identical results, if they don't then you know yours has some kind of fault with how it's recording colours.

Yes, off to Leica Miami tomorrow to compare with their SL. Thanks, Rob

Florida lighting cant change your brown dachshund to a zombie-esque yellow...[scroll up the SL image thread] better if Leica sees and check the camera

Those are 2 different daschunds photographed!  Sorry if it was misleading.

Thanks to all for your advice and suggestions.

So here's the update: I went to Leica Miami today and we shot comparable DNG files with one of their SLs and mine. Apparently there is an issue with my WB sensor. The comparative DNG files are being sent to Germany Leica for their suggestions on either a fix, or a return of the camera for repair.

Wow...

Sent in for one problem... and then it comes back with another :)  Great QC... would be nice if they tested it before they sent it out to you.

whats amazing is that they had to open up most of the camera to fix a spring for the SDcard ?

Sigh. That is so disappointing at the price everything costs.

For anyone that doesn’t have easy access to a local Leica Store, it must be incredibly frustrating.

Not really surprising. It may be a 5 cent part in a 5$ assembly, but it is located under a heap of other parts. The interior of a modern digital camera is a crowded place.

You are exactly right, as it was explained to me. Required by the repair was a "main board" ($500 e) which was integral to replacement of the card holder.  (The main board was not in and of itself defective). An unusual failure, no doubt.

I trust that Leica will step up to the plate on the sensor repair. Leica Miami has promised me a loaner camera if mine has to go to Germany again. Kudos to Leica Miami for being so helpful.
