howard_cummer Posted June 28, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 28, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I was gifted a new M10 for my birthday by my children (thank you kids!). After 23 days of happy use pictures showed vertical lines indicating a sensor problem. I emailed Wetzlar and they passed my inquiry to New Jersey. I sent the pictures to them and they have asked me to send in my camera to replace the either "sensor or connector". This is my fifth digital M and I have had problems with each and every camera. I call it my "Leica curse". I have asked to get a replacement camera rather than waiting weeks / months for repair. Here is a link to one of the photos illustrating the problem: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Howard+Cummer/2018+photos/Eloise_KatieL1004187W.jpg.html> Edited June 28, 2018 by howard_cummer

marcg Posted June 28, 2018 Share #4 Posted June 28, 2018 If this was in the UK, when a defect occurs within the first 30 days you would be entitled to an immediate replacement or a refund at your choice

Bill W Posted June 29, 2018 Share #6 Posted June 29, 2018 Actual sensor failure with the M10 has been rare I would say.
Abram Posted June 29, 2018 Share #7 Posted June 29, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I hope they provide you with a satisfactory solution. My own M10 hasn't given me any trouble since buying it new last November. I also haven't had any issues with either of my previous M240s or the Monochrom. I've had plenty of issues with lenses, but that's another matter. Best of luck! I'm sure they'll help you out.
Reciprocity Posted July 3, 2018 Share #8 Posted July 3, 2018 Hang in there, I have put about 25,000 frames through my M10 in the 10 months I have had it and there have been no issues with the sensor.
pico Posted July 3, 2018 Share #9 Posted July 3, 2018 Let me be Pollyanna for a moment. You have a beautiful wife, child and an M10, the later which will be fixed; all will be well soon. In the meantime we can offer a PP fix. Very Best
howard_cummer Posted July 24, 2018 Author Share #10 Posted July 24, 2018 M10 repair report 24 July 2018 According to the invoice they took three hours to repair the camera. The problem was faulty electronics. They replaced 24 Mp Board set, replaced the leather covering, adjusted the rangefinder, cleaned, lubricated and calibrated the camera. They received the camera July 6 and the $0.00 invoice is dated July 24, 2018. I would rate that as pretty good and timely service. Given the horror stories one hears on the ‘net about slow service I am pleased. Of course, I don’t have the camera in hand yet but am anticipating a “well done Leica” Howard
