wlaidlaw Posted October 2, 2018 Share #161 Posted October 2, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) My LED headlights can be changed from Left Hand (UK) to Right Hand (Mainland Europe) on the screen in the car somewhere in level -7.5 of the menu system. They were supposed to change automatically from the sat nav detecting where the car was but it is just one of a long list of things supposed to be corrected by soft and firmware updates later this year and I did it manually. Irritatingly, it tells me they are changed every time I start the car. My digital speedometer also will not change from MPH to KPH like it is supposed to, which has been a real p*****r over the summer in France. stunsworth Posted October 4, 2018 Share #164 Posted October 4, 2018 Thanks Andy/Christoph for putting this together. I'm assuming, as we've not been asked, that this year we don't have to decide what we're going to eat in advance. Can someone remind me of the cost of the meal? I've got 40 Euros in my head, but I could be making that up.
andybarton Posted October 4, 2018 Author Share #165 Posted October 4, 2018 Christoph is arranging a short menu from which we can choose on the night. He advised me in a PM "We expect about 40 euro for the food and 20 euro for drinks. Vegetarian choices are possible but we need to know before." He has to confirm numbers today, I believe.
StS Posted October 4, 2018 Share #166 Posted October 4, 2018 One standard meal* and a nice glass of wine for me, please. Thanks a lot Stefan * I had business lunches in other countries, where I still don't know, what I had. robert_parker Posted October 6, 2018 Share #171 Posted October 6, 2018 (edited) For info (and similar to Wilson's comment) if you have a modern BMW the headlight setting can be adjusted left to right from the menus in iDrive, with older models there is a switch under a platic bung at the top of each headlight that I think operates an anti dazzle mechanism. StS Posted October 6, 2018 Share #174 Posted October 6, 2018 I'm starting to trust weather apps, when it comes to the next day . We’re on the way to Lyon, staying in Amiens tonight. Who knows where tomorrow. We could do one of these Top Gear challenges, where you go by car while I take ICE and TGV, where I have to rely on a rather short connection in Baden-Baden (meaning, I'm taking the preposterous assumption that Deutsche Bahn is in time). Let's see, who is first at the bar on Friday evening. I give you a head start until Friday If that Baden-Baden thing does not work out, I'll text one of you to order a beer from the last round for me... stunsworth Posted October 6, 2018 Share #177 Posted October 6, 2018 Andy, fine by me, looking forward to it - though experience tells me more than one glass of wine per course will be drunk <grin>. Although I’m an omnivore I assume there’ll be veggie alternatives to the starter and main courses.
andybarton Posted October 6, 2018 Author Share #178 Posted October 6, 2018 It’s a bit late now, and no one has said that they’re vegetarian, but I expect something could be done.
