I use Paterson reals and a changing back.  I have better a technique now but I used to struggle getting the film on the reel.  My hands would sweat and the inside of the bag was like a sauna.  I could feel the film getting softer and that made it even harder to get on the reel.  The softness may have resulted from the humidity in the bag.  I don't recall the film sticking together and/or effecting the film like in your short.

Agree with otto, the effect is wonderful with your shot.

Thanks Ray, yes I struggled and that's exactly what happened (was very sweaty and hot in the bag) .  I think unfortunately sometimes if you are struggling and the film gets creased etc then it makes it harder for subsequent attempts .

Glad I finally got the reel on and got this result but will be hoping for smoother sailing next time.  There are lots of remnants and defects on this roll as a whole, but the other one in the tank was fine so I don't 'think' it was agitation/fixing related

This changed my entire approach to developing 35mm film (I also use it for 120):

Also, get rid of Patterson reels and get these (they have different names in various places):

M3 & 50mm DR.  FP4 in DD-X.  I went to high school with his older brothers.  In case anyone wonders, he is not homeless.

M3 & 21mm SEM.  HP5 in DD-X.  Shot outside a body shop so she's waiting for restoration.

The location for this week's video was indeed a windy trail, which is good for my channel's namesake, but the scenery was a bit repetitive.

I’m still learning the characteristics of a 21mm. The widest I’ve used before is 28mm.  I would have opted for a SA but I can use the SEM with my M240.  I’m still a newby developing film so I’m sticking with ddx for a while.

I was curious how a lens "prepared" for digital sensors would renders in film. I think the result is worth it!
