abrewer Posted April 24, 2018 Share #2 Posted April 24, 2018 As an American veteran I and my countrymen are indebted to the brave antipodean men and women who fought shoulder to shoulder with us over the decades. God bless them all.
stuny Posted April 24, 2018 Share #3 Posted April 24, 2018 The ANZAC memorial in Sydney (we first saw it many decades ago) is heartbreaking, and the Peter Weir film, Gallipoli might be the most perfect film ever made.
leica dream Posted April 24, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 24, 2018 When we visited Australia from the UK a couple of years ago we spent a long thought provoking and humbling time at the ANZAC Memorial in Melbourne. So glad we took that opportunity. We shall be thinking of everyone in Australia and New Zealand tomorrow. Richard
david strachan Posted April 25, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted April 25, 2018 (edited) Thank you everyone for your remembrances. The Adelaide Anzac Day March, this morning, was poignant. I'm remembering my family members today, died at Gallipoli, fought at Ypres, POW on the Thai-Burma Railway and Changi, Egypt, etc. ... alan c. davis Posted April 25, 2018 Share #6 Posted April 25, 2018 Likewise David. Lost a great uncle (Frank) in WW1 and an uncle (Harry) at El Alemein. My Dad was one of the Rats of Tobruk. He, Harry, Jack and Arthur all served in WW2 and the youngest brother Alan in Korea.

We remember men and women, wars' veterans from Australia and New Zealand...almost a holy day here. Lest We Forget My church minister was a Kiwi soldier. I too was a soldier (American) and it made for a common bond between us. Kindest man you'd ever meet but you can tell there is still a lot of soldier in him. When I attend veteran memorial events I always get choked up thinking about what some went through, and still go through, in order that we can live free. Thanks for posting, David. If you attended this year's event I hope you will post some shots. Ray
