In the list of accessories, there is a ND filter. So finally there is a 82mm common size ND filter that can be used for the SL lenses except the Summicrons with 67mm filter size.

The 11-23 produces an APS-C 10 MPx image on the SL, but it works fine.  (But it's even better on a CL.)  I use it on the SL for 4K video, but I have posted still image tests.

 

Incidentally, recommended reading for questions like "whose MTF's should be believed?" and "What else contributes to corner sharpness?" is Roger Cicala, founder of Lensrentals, who frequently writes about this on their blog.  He has been showing recently how curvature of field is an important issue, and what to do about it (like focusing for mid-field, not the image center).  Leica is better for field flatness than some other manufacturers.

Well, reading Roger takes some time and effort.  To find his most recent three articles, first click on "Geek articles" at the top of the page.  Page two of that category currently has three articles listed at the  bottom of the page that cover (from bottom to top) the subject of using MTFs for lenses that are not just wide-open; images that are not required to be sharp only in the center, and finally a best setting if you want sharpness a cross the whole picture.  To get an introduction to his way of presenting the information from their lens-only tests at infinity, go back some more pages, or follow links in some of the articles. 

 

He has set a standard for presenting information on lenses tested in batches of ten (with a way of presenting what varies among them), and in asking other questions, such as "is a lens soft in the corners because it just loses resolution off axis or because it's sharp, but focused at a different distance because of field curvature?"  I think those are worthwhile things to know, but put some time aside to read the full discussion.

Popflash does the same.  I could confirm a verbal preorder and establish my place in line by paying once the price was made public and they could put it on their website.  If I weren't convinced that this is a range that fits my shooting, and an outstanding lens, I could happily have waited half a year, maybe saved a little money, (or seen a further price increase) ...

When it comes to new product release, Leica Stores gets stock ahead of dealers. By past trends, Singapore is one of the early points that receives new releases from Germany.

 

My understanding from Leica Store in Singapore is the que is determined by when the invoice was generated. I remember waiting for quite a while for my 90-280mm lens as I was not early in the preorder list back then. Perhaps that was only the official version communicated to customers,...no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. Let’s see what happens to the actual delivery dates this time on the 16-35mm lens.

How about a comparison between the leica vs the Sony FE16-35 GM. My copy of this lens just gives stunning results on the A7rIII

As stated above - and to the extent MTFs from different vendors are comparable  - the SL 16-35 looks promising indeed (FE16-35 GM; SL16-35).

I think the most Leica-relevant comparo is the CL with its 11-23 against the SL with the new 16-35.  Both are outstanding new designs.  On paper, the SL lens carries its extraordinary sharpness down to the closest focus distance (which isn't quite as close as the 11-23 CL lens is willing to go), while the CL lens seems to suffer a bit at the edges.  I have used it close to its minimum focus distance without seeing any problems.  I think I'll try some table-top experiments to see if I can find the limits of what I have with the CL and what I will have (GAS rules!) with the SL.
