What we need is a paint/finish hardness test. Easy enough. We just try to scratch the finish with ever increasingly hard substances until one leaves a mark. Now all we need are some volunteers with their cameras ......

Or, just do it in the shop and return a camera that scratches too easily...

That's funny. Aside: my black enamel cameras wore quickly in the summer, I presume from perspiring hands. Add that.

When I got my M10 I stuck some clear film in the areas where I knew the strap would rub when I did not have it in an Arte di Mano half case. The film is what you would use on an automobile in areas to protect from rocks thrown up by your tires. It sticks great so far.

I did the same. I used HPX tape, meant for protection of your car paint. I’m quite satisfied with the result.

Of course I did not buy my tape expressly for protecting M10's but I have enough to protect about 3,755 future ones. Just an estimate though of course.
