lenz76 Posted January 29, 2018 Share #1  Posted January 29, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there,  i am quite new to the Leica world, but already amazed )) My kit consits of a M-E and a 50 cron v5.The only annoying thing, besides my still clumsy focussing abilities, is the lenscap, which falls off by just looking at it.Almost every time i pull the cam out of my bag it falls off.Is there a cap made from alloy which slides over the aperture ring for this lens?any hints appreciated!

lct Posted January 29, 2018 Share #2  Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) Welcome to the forum . The 14398 slip-on lens cap for 50/2 apo fits nicely on the 50/2 v5 (pic) but it is not tight enough to prevent it from slipping down in case of shake or bump. Sticking another strip of velvet or foam on its inner circumference would probably solve the issue. BTW this same 14398 slip-on cap for 50/2 apo can be used securely over the regular 14038 clip-on cap for 50/2 v5 with little chance to loose the latter. Might look a bit paranoid though .  Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Gregm61 Posted January 29, 2018 Share #3  Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) The caps with those outer tabs are easy to bang when you pull the camera out of the bag. It just takes knocking one of them slightly to jar the cap off. I've done it multiple times with the same lens.  That's why so many makers have gone to the inner pinch-type caps. Check the way you store the camera and lens in the bag. Would it make things any better fitting the cap with the tabs at different angles that might keep you from hitting them as you remove and store the camera? TomB_tx Posted January 29, 2018 Share #4 Â Posted January 29, 2018 I switched to generic 39mm pinch caps from the usual web stores.
ktmrider2 Posted January 30, 2018 Share #5 Â Posted January 30, 2018 (edited) Get a generic 39mm pinch cap. Â B&H has them for less then $10. Â I think the Leica one's are $50. Edited January 30, 2018 by ktmrider2
mdemeyer Posted January 30, 2018 Share #6  Posted January 30, 2018 I found that this works very well if you use a filter (as I do):  https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/125270-REG/Kaiser_206940_40mm_Push_On_Lens_Cap.html  I use a B+W F-Pro filter and the fit is snug enough to never fall off but not too hard to remove. $
