On the Facebook group: “V2.3 mainly for match better with CS lenses and also continue to improve focus accuracy”.

After a SUPER quick test with my 30-90mm I can confidently say that V2.3 has vastly improved the autofocus with a lot less hunting/settling. I haven't looked to see if the EXIF data is correct (although it was with V2.2). The sharpness has always been there. This adapter is now fit for purpose to go out into the big, wide world.

The EXIF data correctly reports the various focal lengths that I used. 👍

Seems we are slowly getting there.. 🙂

Sooner or later will have to decide between this and the Leica one for the SL, which are basically the same price.

Without official authorized specs, the reverse engineering products like this usually take 10% of time to make it 90% right, and then 90% of time to make the rest 10% right, assuming the other parts (camera, lens) do not have changes, update, or new firmware.

Which file do you mean saying about 1 Kb?
After DAT file transfers, wait ~10 sec and removable disk should remount.
After that, the name of the text file in the root should be changed. Something like "V_01_3" to "V_02_3".
Transferred DAT file should not be there anymore.
If so, the update went successfully.

Here are some updates I posted in FB group.

Reinstalled the firmware, both 120 and 180 was accepted as 100mm f2. I can control the aperture but IBIS will be not as useful.

Another interesting finding is if I reinstall firmware, basically remove all the lenses info. And if I attach 100cron first, it will recognize 100mm and F2. Then it will refuse take 120 and 180. Both will focus back and forth forever.
Redo the same process, if I attach 120 or 180 first, it will take them and treat them as 100mm f2. Actually both will be detected as 100mm f2. I can change aperture and use them. And you guess it right, it will not take 100mm anymore.  I believe firmware 1.3 added 100mm support but screw up 120 and 180. With firmware 1.2, 100mm was not supported but both 120 and 180 are treated as the same lens as 120 with f2.5 aperture.

Here you can see 24/35/70 are beautifully supported but 100/120/180 all show lens unavailable even I can see focal length documented as 100mm.

Could you please try to repeat the trick with 35/70 pair? If we reinstall FW and mount 35 first, will it work? This is the only lens I have and it focuses back and forth forever. I suppose if I mounted another one (70 for example), 35 could start working after that (probably a lens could talk some info to an adapter to remember on first start, e.g. encrypting keys etc, and 35 might not do that for some reason). No support from Kipon, full ignoring everywhere (emails, instagram).

In this case, the best bet is update your 35mm lens firmware with 007 or S3.
I don’t have single case that adapter won’t recognize 35mm over all the firmware so far.
you can try to reinstall latest firmware and mount it again. I don’t think 70mm will help 35mm support. In my case, I feel the adapter is just confused with 100 and 180/120mm lenses so only one can be supported.

Hi folks, apparently there is a new kid on the block, the XPIMAGE S to GFX adaper:

For the time being it's able to only control aperture, they state that "they are working on AF capabilities that should be added with a later FW update", how it's a mistery to me since they don't even have a website (at least I cannot find it through a simple Google search, guess it's deep in the Chinese web).

It's not cheap at around 500 quid/euros, but since Amazon sells it and in case I guess I can return it with no hassle, I decided to do the guinea pig for you all and ordered one, will keep you posted when I get it 🙂

Yes sure, let's really hope that 🤞

The Kipon now is for sure more "tried and tested" (and does AF for what matters) but at more than 1000 Euro (and it's not clear to me if they ship from Europe or not, otherwise you will even have to add VAT and duties to that) is way too expensive for my tastes for an adapter.

Or you can buy my second copy that I've listed on eBay.co.uk: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/136345903832  I've updated the firmware on it, too.

XPimage produces very reliable mechanical adapters, I use several. That’s the first one with electronics. Let’s hope they achieve to make it work. In China nowadays you not necessarily have a website, all is done at various specifically Chinese phone Apps.

Cool, looking forward for your findings! (at the end I bought Sarnian's spare Kipon so most likely will cancel my order for the XPimage, but as you said, their mechanical adapters are pretty good, so I'm confident that this is a good product, I've also read somewhere that they should be some kind of re-gathering of Kipon's former employees, but no certainty about that).

It hunts for something to focus on when you’re just walking around (although so does Leica’s own Contax 645 adapter). When you focus on something it locks on pretty quickly and the images are tack sharp. I use it with my 30-90mm.
