spacecad3t Posted December 19, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just noticed this for the firs time after a week and half of owning the CL. Pressing on the screen in the top, center region produces a clicking sound.. but no where else. Anyone else experience this? Just curious if this is a byproduct of me carrying it in my coat pocket. helged Posted December 19, 2017 Share #4 Posted December 19, 2017 (edited) I just noticed this for the firs time after a week and half of owning the CL. Pressing on the screen in the top, center region produces a clicking sound.. but no where else. Anyone else experience this? Just curious if this is a byproduct of me carrying it in my coat pocket. Click sound from my screen as well - I noticed it some days ago, but thereafter I forgot it, until being reminded... A non-issue, I guess. If not, return to Wetzlar sometime in the distant future. Until then, plug and play. Edited December 19, 2017 by helged
thighslapper Posted December 19, 2017 Share #5 Posted December 19, 2017 We had all this with the Leica Q as well ..... and some returned cameras for replacements. As it was of no functional significance it seems to have been forgotten .... and I am sure this will be as well ....

thighslapper Posted December 20, 2017 Share #7 Posted December 20, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for all the input, interesting to here similar from the Leica Q.. I would report it to Leica though .... it may be the result of some issue with assembly which they are unaware of. They will usually ensure it vanishes in future even if they feel it is 100% cosmetic and of no consequence.
earleygallery Posted December 20, 2017 Share #8 Posted December 20, 2017 If it 'clicks' though it must mean there's some movement, and if there's movement it might mean that the screen cover isn't fully bonded to the body which could lead to dust getting inside over time. I'd check it with Leica if it were mine.
spacecad3t Posted December 20, 2017 Author Share #9 Posted December 20, 2017 When you say inform Leica: I already sent an email to, repair@leicacamerausa.com, as listed here: Should I contact someone else?
Learner Posted December 20, 2017 Share #10 Posted December 20, 2017 Do let us know Leica's response.
spacecad3t Posted December 20, 2017 Author Share #11 Posted December 20, 2017 Well I shipped it to the NJ Customer Service center for inspection and possible repair. Will update this thread when I hear back.
pappde Posted December 21, 2017 Share #12 Posted December 21, 2017 The screen clicking was all over in the beginning months with the Q also. Lots of posters made a big fuzz about it, returned their cameras to Leica for fix or replacement. My Q was clicking WHEN I checked for it, but ONLY after I read about the issue on this forum. I did not think of it as an issue. I think is a personal decision whether one makes it one. BTW my Q stopped clicking after about six months or so. It did not collect dust on the sensor or any other ailments that was mentioned in connection with the clicking. I guess people just love to fondle their Leica's till they click
spacecad3t Posted December 28, 2017 Author Share #13 Posted December 28, 2017 Update: Leica NJ is sending me a replacement CL body and sending mine off to Germany.

lct Posted December 28, 2017 Share #15 Posted December 28, 2017 I guess people just love to fondle their Leica's till they click And then the Leica warranty is not expired hopefully. I see no reason to keep a faulty body but it's just me.
jaapv Posted December 29, 2017 Share #16 Posted December 29, 2017 Actually, I think that you have found the button to activate HCB mode.
ramarren Posted December 29, 2017 Share #17 Posted December 29, 2017 Things like this generally mean an assembly problem where not enough adhesive or backing layer was applied. While cosmetic, it's best to have it taken care of early, and requesting warranty service on it informs Leica of a potential problem that they can correct. But I did like the HCB Mode button idea. thighslapper Posted December 29, 2017 Share #19 Posted December 29, 2017 It seems that Leica disagrees with you at least. ....... Leica exchanged all the Q's where users complained about it ...... then the problem vanished ...as far as consumer complaints go ..... and nothing much has been said about it as far as I can recall. I have just checked my Q .... which is now 2.5 years old and the screen still clicks on the left ...... if you are daft enough to press it hard enough. spacecad3t Posted December 29, 2017 Author Share #20 Posted December 29, 2017 The CL has a touch screen. Should the screen warp and make noise when touched under normal usage? My cell phone doesn't... Since joining this forum, I can't tell if I'm being trolled our what.
