Stealth3kpl Posted December 3, 2017 Share #1  Posted December 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Trying to decide between these two lenses. One is the M mount version, the other is more expensive and is LTM but I have an adaptor. The latter also comes with a lens cap. Advertisement Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Hi Stealth3kpl, Take a look here Two 50mm lenses. Help me decide. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MarkP Posted December 3, 2017 Share #2 Â Posted December 3, 2017 (edited) Just buy both as they're so cheap. Decide which one you like and sell the other one on eBay or here on the Forum. Â I'm sure you would have no trouble seeing it. Edited December 3, 2017 by MarkP
Ecar Posted December 3, 2017 Share #3 Â Posted December 3, 2017 (edited) But the first one comes with a hood (although not original). Hmm, tough choice... I'd make the decision based on the colour of my bag and the destination of my next trip. Edited December 3, 2017 by Ecar
jaapv Posted December 3, 2017 Share #4  Posted December 3, 2017 Not being a collector I would buy neither, but if I were I would buy the one that fits best in my collection. - or indeed both.
anickpick Posted December 3, 2017 Share #5 Â Posted December 3, 2017 This confirmes my suspicion that Leica does not know its market. They are giving away their Noctilux lenses way too cheaply.
adan Posted December 3, 2017 Share #6 Â Posted December 3, 2017 No. 2 - that fade-away brassing is a work of art in itself...
pgk Posted December 3, 2017 Share #7 Â Posted December 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Why do you have to ask? Obviously price differential should tell you which will take better photos .....
Wonzo Posted December 3, 2017 Share #8 Â Posted December 3, 2017 You better start with this one, before you spend more money. It might be better to waste 100 Euros than even more .... luigi bertolotti Posted December 3, 2017 Share #11  Posted December 3, 2017 (edited) The Taiwan adapter of the M version (with focus helicoid !)  is really intriguing ...  ... I'd bid for it, definitely...  Seriously speaking, one must not forget that the international dealers ARE a community in any sense (and the ebay seller of those item is one of these, ondoubtly). with an obvious common REAL interest about collectibles' value, and they play regularly the game of "heating the market" for some items... with several kinds of "inside deals". About this Dallmetyer lens (surely interesting item, I admit, even if I have not infos about its history, versions, numbers etc...) is worth noting that in 2009 one (*) was auctioned by the well known Austrian House and went for 1320 Euros... and just TWO years after, same auction house, the SAME item (same s/n, i mean) went for TEN times that "old" price...  (*) lens head only.. but , as one can see in the current ebayed M version item, mount isn't a big issue... LocalHero1953 Posted December 3, 2017 Share #12 Â Posted December 3, 2017 At those prices, they'll be worth it: 10 times the IQ of the Apo-Summicron-M 50 Asph. It's a bargain. After the first shot you take and publish, Magnum, Vogue etc will be knocking on your door.

Stealth3kpl Posted December 3, 2017 Author Share #16 Â Posted December 3, 2017 I think a chap in the "Old Glass" on the Monochrom thread has posted some beautiful images using some Dallmayer lenses, amongst others. Wonderfully evocative lenses in the right hands. Pete

mpeterson Posted December 4, 2017 Share #18 Â Posted December 4, 2017 $54.8K for a lens and it comes with a Voigtlander lenscap? I guess that since I don't currently have any spare Dallmeyer lenscaps lying about in my junk drawer, I'll have to pass this time.
coupdefoudre Posted December 4, 2017 Share #19 Â Posted December 4, 2017 (edited) As an avid and heavy (non)user of both lenses I think I'd have to recommend taking up shooting with a big view camera or buying a First Class cabin on an Around-the-World cruise (there are jet flight tours in this category now) and shooting lots of images for a journey to remember! (You could also do both and still have money left over in the bank!) Edited December 4, 2017 by coupdefoudre
