Trying to decide between these two lenses. One is the M mount version, the other is more expensive and is LTM but I have an adaptor. The latter also comes with a lens cap.

The Taiwan adapter of the M version (with focus helicoid !)  is really intriguing ... B) ... I'd bid for it, definitely... :p

Seriously speaking, one must not forget that the international dealers ARE a community in any sense (and the ebay seller of those item is one of these, ondoubtly). with an obvious common REAL interest about collectibles' value, and they play regularly the game of "heating the market" for some items... with several kinds of "inside deals".

About this Dallmetyer lens (surely interesting item, I admit, even if I have not infos about its history, versions, numbers etc...) is worth noting that in 2009 one (*) was auctioned by the well known Austrian House and went for 1320 Euros... and just TWO years after, same auction house, the SAME item (same s/n, i mean) went for TEN times that "old" price... ;)

(*) lens head only.. but , as one can see in the current ebayed M version item, mount isn't a big issue...

At those prices, they'll be worth it: 10 times the IQ of the Apo-Summicron-M 50 Asph. It's a bargain. After the first shot you take and publish, Magnum, Vogue etc will be knocking on your door.

That's what I figure. It'll pay for itself.

Joking aside, This chap put the 102mm f1.9 to good use:

As an avid and heavy (non)user of both lenses I think I'd have to recommend taking up shooting with a big view camera

or

buying a First Class cabin on an Around-the-World cruise (there are jet flight tours in this category now) and shooting lots of images for a journey to remember!

(You could also do both and still have money left over in the bank!)
