Csacwp Posted November 17, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 17, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I’ve heard of various M-A issues... light leaks, uneven negative spacing, and film advance issues mid roll. Have these experiences been the norm, or have most people had no issues with their cameras?
Advertisement Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 Hi Csacwp, Take a look here M-A: How are they holding up?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ShivaYash Posted November 18, 2017 Share #2 Posted November 18, 2017 I’m finding the chrome finish on mine to be soft as cheese. It’s going back on Tuesday to Wetzlar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That's disappointing. Usually the silver finishes are particularly robust and age very well.

MarkP Posted November 19, 2017 Share #6 Posted November 19, 2017 (edited) perfectly Is your's black or silver. I'm contemplating buying a black M-A from a local Forum member. to keep my M7 company, and maybe even take a few photos with :-) However, I'm feeling the pull of 4x5 LF instead Edited November 19, 2017 by MarkP

I love love the camera although the black chrome doesn't give me a hard on. I could go either way.

Personally, I like black chrome. My M7 and Monochrom v1 have 'silvered' very gently. Edited November 19, 2017 by MarkP

logan2z Posted November 19, 2017 Share #13 Posted November 19, 2017 I've only had my black M-A for a couple of months but so far no issues. Love the camera.
Csacwp Posted November 19, 2017 Author Share #14 Posted November 19, 2017 Anybody know how the black one will wear? Down to the brass or just to the nickel?
Abram Posted November 22, 2017 Share #15 Posted November 22, 2017 It'll probably eventually wear down to the nickel plating as with all the other black chrome cameras. In the almost 2 years I've had mine it is starting to show some rub marks on the edges from my camera strap but I really don't care about that. I've run dozens of rolls through it and they've all been perfect. If I'm using more modern lenses I find the frame spacing to be perfectly consistent, though I will mention that when using older lenses that protrude far into the camera body (looking at you Super Angulon 21mm) the frame somehow gets "wider" where each frame is effectively almost touching the one next to it (though it is consistent) and I noticed this same behavior on other M bodies so it's not exclusive to my M-A. I have no complaints about the M-A. It meets my needs and I like shooting with it. I also actually really like black chrome so I'm good with the color. Paul Verrips Posted April 29, 2018 Share #16 Posted April 29, 2018 I have the black chrome M-A (secondhand) for about 9 month an it traveled to Havanna, Porto, Paris and used it at home. Shot about 30/35 films with it and love the camera en the black chrome. No issues, besides getting addicted to the M-A.
Emtsoh Posted April 30, 2018 Share #17 Posted April 30, 2018 Great camera indeed. I use it all the time. Made me a better photographer (sounds kind of cheesy but is absolutely true). No need for light meter anymore.. Prior to the M-A, I was the type of user who looked for the exposure dot in the centre or even worse (Auto mode in DSLR..). Not anymore. In addition, M-A is the reason I only shoot film for pleasure. My digital ''camera'' is a 3-year old smartphone :-)
