This thread is suffering from overposting by a few members; I have hidden some posts. It is a an unwritten convention that we leave space for other participants. I wander around my home city of Glasgow a fair bit. I always have either my Leica M Monochrom mk1, or an analogue M loaded with black and white film with me. I think that finding interesting photographs on the street is pretty much the hardest type of photography. But when you do get something, it's very rewarding. What does anyone else think/find?

 

A few pictures I've got around Glasgow with my M cameras..

 

Colin you have made some truly great images in your post #1, particularly the image of the man on the street in the fog.

 

I would agree that street photography is likely the most difficult type of photography, particularly when there are people in your frame.  The more people, the more unpredictability and anarchy the image maker has to contend with.  That is why street photography is a great training ground for those who want to improve as photographers and hone their skill set.

 

Really working at street photography will improve your documentary photography and other genres of image making.  Learning to anticipate and capture the exact moment when your scene and the subjects in it (people) come together in optimal form is an invaluable skill for any photographer.
