I've just now discovered this thread. I find street photography fascinating: it has a very low yield, however, sometimes things fall into place and you get a picture out of nowhere...Some of my street pics:

Very nice street images. Agree that the yield is very low for street shots. Kind of makes it all worthwhile when you get something you're happy with.

I love the composition and mood. Its dark... I relate as we all might from time to time. The guy in the back and arrow pointing up is a definite plus. Everything is framed as separate, distinct but related topics. Nice/ well done.

A post industrial scene that I am always drawn back to time and time again.

Bill Brandt - my all time photographic hero, stood at this very spot in Halifax Yorkshire in 1945 and made with a Rolleiflex his iconic images for a Lillyput magazine feature "Hail Hull and Halifax"

This, one of many of my images of this area was taken last week with my Leica M3 with a 24mm Elmar F3.8   film was HP5 for grittyness.

Great image Paul. I am curious about your statemnt that you used HP5 for grittyness. (I assume you meant HP5+) One of my favourite films but I don't consider it grity. Is it maybe the development you give it that creates the grittyness, that certainly suits your picture?

Thank you for the detailed explanation Paul. Always interesting. However my real query was about the look of the HP5+. I have never considered it gritty as you describe it. I am wondering if this partly due to the D76 Dev? It is more than 50 years since I used D76 so am no longer familiar with it. I dev Hp5+ mostly in Xtol and the result is not gritty, IMO. To approach grit or grain I use Rodinal (I think I have the last original bottle in captivity!) which would give me the look you chase.

Even more to the point, I think we all differ in our process techniques and none of us is ever exactly the same.
