stump4545 Posted August 4, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 4, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just from a couple a batchs of M10 images, I feel that the files from the type 246 were richer with more detail in them then the M10 black and white. From reviews online, it was said that the M10 BW was real close to the 246 for BW work at low iso, but i dont know......

Luke_Miller Posted August 5, 2017 Share #2 Posted August 5, 2017 I have no experience with the M10, but B&W from my M240 (with the same resolution as the M10) does not compare with either my M246 or M9MM in terms of detail.

lanetomlane Posted August 6, 2017 Share #4 Posted August 6, 2017 I agree, in my opinion the M10 is not quite up to the same standard for B&W as the 246. I was debating whether to trade my 246, or 240 against an M10. David Stephen's was kind enough to lend me an M10 for an hour or so and when I got home I compared the two. Although there wasn't much in it the 246, in my opinion had the edge. It's going to be farewell to the 240. procrustes Posted August 6, 2017 Share #5 Posted August 6, 2017 I have an M246 and a Leica Q which I believe has a similar sensor in terms of ISO latitude to the M10. Printed at A2 size the M246 images show much more detail and have better tonal gradation whilst requiring less post-production to achieve this. I do use colour filters from 022 yellow to 715 infrared to get the look I'm after, I find large colour manipulations in conversion introduce too much noise. This is a 100% crop from a recent picture, 1/90, F16, IR 715 @ 6400ASA (I forgot the tripod!) M245 21SEM. Full size pic in monochrome 2 pictures Welcome, dear visitor! The only way I'd ever lose my M246 is for an M10M, provided it had a better sensor and EVF. For the longer lenses of course, the IR filter forced me to use the rangefinder.
