Is this the first second-hand M10?

Yes. Sounds pretty familiar.

My last Leica was black and I had to explain to my partner that it was a very old camera because it only shot in black-and-white.

My M10 is also black, and so far no one has cottoned on that it isn't my MM1.

This is what I call – living on the edge!

I'm very uncomfortable about this conversation.  My undisclosed M10 is in the safe at home - only I have the combo.  Waiting for the 'right' time.

The old 'Oh - I've had that ages ... ' isn't going to work.

As somebody once said about their high spec bicycle.  'When I die I hope my wife doesn't sell this based on what I told her I had paid for it'

My best hope is quid pro quo.  My wife bought a new car but hasn't sold the old one yet.  I am not giving her a hard time.  Each car is worth a touch more than an M10 body.

My reserve position is I sell my Sony A7RII and some nice Canon and Zeiss lenses.

Love it, I think that's classic.

A few years ago my father noticed that our neighbour had bought a new car – a silver Volvo – identical to the old one.

He mentioned to the neighbour's wife that he was impressed that they had bought a new car. She became very angry because apparently she hadn't been told and hadn't noticed even though she had been driven around in it for several weeks before.  She stormed into the house and I got the impression that she gave her husband a very hard time.

I am always safe if I "trade" something or "sell" something on ebay to fund a new purchase. If she buys a new purse which is often, I am good to go as well.

My wife and I actually give ourselves a monthly "allowance" that we can use to spend on anything we want, anything that costs more than is saved of that has to be negotiated or snuck in though. :)

"We discussed this, don't you remember?"

:)

And the ensuing discussion will establish that her memory is elephantine and yours more like a colander, which is probably uncomfortably close to the truth...:D

When M10 came out, early this year, my wife toll me that it's time for me to have new "long waited M" (that's my sentence).

I wanted to trade-in my MATE (the lens not the guy :p ) for M10, but she tried the MATE then adopted it.

I gave her for that good advice my M9 and MATE.

We are both happy with our deal

Sold mine already. Sold it on eBay. After posting many positive/glowing reviews I was hit with an instigating M camera. Multiple attempts by DAG to adjust the rangefinder that left me frustrated to say the least.

I will buy another one but I believe that some cameras are cursed (or faulty components)! No hard feelings with Leica because I have had the M9, M240, M246, D-lux 6, D-lux typ 109, Q, and none ever had focusing issues.

A Hermes Birkin bag is about 8000 to 10.000 € so as long as I'm at 3 seats on equal numbers, my wife will not be forced to sell one of her Birkin's. I call it  consumer terror balance. My wife called it a Mexican standoff.
