Hello Forum Members,

I'm hoping someone can answer a simple question for me. For those of you lucky enough to have received your M10 can you please confirm whether it is shipped with a generic warranty card inside? I know that I used to get them for my Leica products but I recently sold my M10 and the buyer is giving me grief that there is no warranty card. I certainly never removed the card and am wondering if there is such a thing anymore. Just checked my Q box and no card was present. Watched some unboxing videos and saw no evidence of a warranty card. Has this processed now moved to be 100% online? Can one of you please check to see if you received a warranty card before I decide on next steps.

Thanks so much, Jeff

My M10 did not come with a "warranty card". They come with a booklet referred to as guarantee card, whatever that means. I think they want you to register them online which I do. I recently got a new M 50 Summilux which was actually "born on" in 2015 and it had one of the passport warranty cards in the box. A more recently built SL 50 I received did not have a warranty card but one of guarantee cards in the form of a booklet. Not sure if this is the same worldwide and I am in the US.

I think they may have stopped. My 35mm summicron came with a warranty card I sent back in but my 50 summilux did not. Both came with a manufactured date and signature though. I registered both online. I would just tell the guy there wasn't a card. He can contact Leica about it if he doesn't believe you.

I didn't actually look in my M10 box for a Warranty card as I like to just register my Leica Product purchases on the Leica Members Area on the U.S. Leica website. I "assume" Leica might reference these Registrations in the event of any warranty issue or questions and I also feel this gives us a safe place to keep our Leica Serial numbers and purchase dates as it records the ownership of our products.

This thread makes me curious, is there any warranty on a Leica Camera once it has been bought and then Re-sold?  I have been searching through a lot of Leica info and have Not been able to find their Warranty Policies posted on line, has anyone got a link to it?

I can only imagine that there is a database, analog to a car with the chassis number, when the camera or lens is first registered. When you sell the item, you delete it from you portfolio and the buyer will add it online....if it has never been registered...well....that might be a problem.

After I registered my M10 online in the Leica Members Area, I received an email a few days later that said "we hope you are enjoying your new camera" and reminded me that I had a 90 day trial membership to Adobe Creative Cloud. So they do know that you have registered it at that point.

If you're in the uk and continue to get grief, I'll have it!

I bought a used MP about 4 years ago from Red Dot cameras. Within a fortnight the rewind clutch was seizing up before the end of a film. The camera was shipped and serviced by Leica under warranty. I did have all the original paperwork with the camera.

Thanks everybody for your input. It seems pretty plausible at this point that the little white warranty cards are completely redundant so I'm going to assume they've been discontinued. I haven't heard back from the buyer so I am considering the matter closed.

If anyone was curious, the only reason I sold the camera was that I was really having difficulty composing at 28 & 35 with the magnified .73 finder. I'm sure I would have gotten used to it eventually but figure I'm willing to wait a couple years to pick up a used body. Everything else was great and I really felt better with the thinner chassis. Good luck to all. Hope the wait is winding down soon.
