S.Rolf Posted May 15, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) While I'm waiting for my order to be eventually filled, I am reading all of the "issues" so far with the camera. Now I'm concerned that this may not really be ready for release after all. Does anyone else feel this way?
Advertisement Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Hi S.Rolf, Take a look here Is The M10 Really Ready For Prime-Time?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
FlashGordonPhotography Posted May 15, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 15, 2017 Nope. The M10 is the best M digital M I have used. It's reinvigorated my enjoyment of RF photography. You're more likely to hear of "problems" on a forum. The vast majority are enjoying their M and don't feel the need to spend time here. erl Posted May 15, 2017 Share #3 Posted May 15, 2017 I have and use M6(x3), M7, M8(x2), M9, M10. All are great cameras and I love using them, most of them professionally. The M10 (I have had for 2 months) is the superior camera of them all. I am not interested in comparing film with digital here, just the ergonomics, functionality and efficiency of the cameras. You will always get detractors bad mouthing any new gear. Also, some of the new gear can fail. I don't care who made it. If you have a problem with gear, you will talk about it. If you don't have a problem with gear you just use it. Bad news always travels faster and further. Do us all a favour and come here and talk about how good your camera is when it arrives. May you enjoy it to the full.
S.Rolf Posted May 15, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted May 15, 2017 This is what I want to hear. And yes, I will come back to expound just how fantastic it is when I finally do get one in my eager hands. Thanks for squelching my fears.
Jeff S Posted May 15, 2017 Share #5 Posted May 15, 2017 Had no issues with my M8.2. Had no issues with my M240. Have had no issues in first month with the M10.... but I already enjoy using it more than the others. Jeff
digitalfx Posted May 15, 2017 Share #6 Posted May 15, 2017 Ive had mine since it was announced and its the best digital Leica M yet...havent stopped shooting since it arrived. Not sure why you are concerned.

otto.f Posted May 15, 2017 Share #8 Posted May 15, 2017 I'm also overwhelmed by the M10 and find it the best digital M thus far, very enthusiastic. Coming from an M9 you get accustomed very soon to the silence of the shutter, but it is one of those things that makes him perfect. I can't stop repeating however that wake-up in the M9 is faster and more natural in seeing scenes and acting immediately. The two seconds M10 needs to start up - also for the frame LEDs - is too long for street photography, so I'm now experimenting with leaving it on to find out what it does with battery life
Rambot-M Posted May 15, 2017 Share #9 Posted May 15, 2017 I have had my M10 for about a month now and after about 1000 shots, I can say this camera is marvelous. Just wait for your camera and you won't be disappointed. You might be disappointed with the wait though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ssevon Posted May 15, 2017 Share #10 Posted May 15, 2017 Got mine on Thursday last week. Although I liked the M240, I thk the M10 feels much better, the pictures have a better "feel" to tjem and the ISO is a game-changer
Guest Posted May 15, 2017 Share #11 Posted May 15, 2017 I have had mine since February, it is a really nice camera to use. I love the simplicity of operation, the feel in the hands and of course coupled with M lenses, you have a piece of beauty in your hands, which is highly capable. One of the best things is it does away with video which is lucky for me (!) it is exactly what I would have lost from any camera. I am one who thinks video is for a dedicated video camera or even an iPhone but not my still camera. Love the 28mm/50mm/90mm on this camera and 135mm is also higly effective, themost used is 28/90 and then 507135. I find start up time is not objectionable. No more or less than other cameras I have owned.
M11 for me Posted May 15, 2017 Share #12 Posted May 15, 2017 I think that the OP wants to strengthen his view about existing problems with the M10. It does not help to post all these positive statements. Here only the OTHERS should post. I fear that this thread will finally cover many, many pages with positive statements about the M10. That can be extremely funny though. But most likely this is not the type of thread that is useful to anyone.
charleswolford Posted May 15, 2017 Share #13 Posted May 15, 2017 I have found no problems with my M10; in fact, I am enjoying it much more than any other camera I have ever used, including my beloved Monochrom M246. I believe it is the best digital camera Leica has produced so far and it really is a joy to use. I'm really happy the video feature is gone.
robert blu Posted May 15, 2017 Share #14 Posted May 15, 2017 I use my M10 since a couple of months. I use it in a "filmic way": no continuos shots, rarely chimping, almost no use of Live View. Let's say I use it in a similar way I use my M7. So far the only problem I had was to discard one of my old SD cards which was not read by the camera (even after running it through SD Formatter), no problem with the Sand Disk Extreme PRO 95 MB/s I bought with the camera. It's my first digital M and I'm satisfied by it. Of course it is not a DSLR and has to be used as an M camera, just my opinion... robert
mustafasoleiman Posted May 15, 2017 Share #15 Posted May 15, 2017 Perhaps a bit slow when reawaken... I press the shutter as I bring the camera to the eye to turn it on and I frequently have to wait for the frames to become visible...
Foxtwo Posted May 15, 2017 Share #16 Posted May 15, 2017 I'm also overwhelmed by the M10 and find it the best digital M thus far, very enthusiastic. The two seconds M10 needs to start up - also for the frame LEDs - is too long for street photography, so I'm now experimenting with leaving it on to find out what it does with battery life Live view is off as a default isn't it? Seems like the camera would use little power in that configuration. Are the frame LED's always on, or do they appear at half press of the shutter? Wonder if there is a way to save power by configuring them to operate that way? Do let us know about your results.
jaapv Posted May 15, 2017 Share #17 Posted May 15, 2017 The frame LEDs probably take so little power as to make no difference. I would suggest the solution we had for all digital Ms before for the startup time: Either have it on auto-power-off and make it a habit to tap the shutter as soon as a photographic situation seems to develop, or leave the camera on constantly and slip a spare battery into your pocket. otto.f Posted May 15, 2017 Share #18 Posted May 15, 2017 The LED's are always on if it's on, so together with exposuremeter etc. So no way to save there. You can choose between letting it on, and letting it put off automatically after 2, 3 or 5 min. In that position you re-awake with half pressing the shutter button. There is no difference in startup time between that or using the metal on/off button. So I leave it on now and use the metal button if I think that's ok for a while
tomppa Posted May 15, 2017 Share #19 Posted May 15, 2017 I had the 'black line' issue last week. Today I received a special FW from Leica to fix it. It solved the problem after some test shots in the dark and High ISO.Still more testing today.
FlashGordonPhotography Posted May 15, 2017 Share #20 Posted May 15, 2017 I have become so used to flicking the switch on when I raise the camera and off when I lower it that I don't even think about it anymore. If there's a delay I don't notice it (nor did I on any digital M). By the time the camera is at my eye it's ready to rock. Gordon
