a.noctilux Posted April 10, 2022 Author Share #81 Posted April 10, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think that using RF focussing in close range does need a bit of tryings as these are old devices which could have been "unadjusted" or "unmatched" over time on repairs or just mismatched parts. We are lucky to have LV on our M10, so why not use LV to check the RF focus. I have many sets of DR+DPOO, I don't mix them up as I know and learned these are "matched" combos. Advertisement Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 Hi a.noctilux, Take a look here M10 can be used with SOMNI (50mm DR) full range. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted April 10, 2022 Author Share #82 Posted April 10, 2022 SDPOO can be tricky sometimes have a look at these threads ..

Thanks @a.noctilux My DR lenses should be the early version (SN 15xxxxx) with bigger ball as locking mechanism that means only the goggles with bigger hole can fit in. This may ignore the probability of having a mismatched goggles. Am I right?
a.noctilux Posted April 11, 2022 Author Share #84 Posted April 11, 2022 Not excluding misalignment. In your place I'd do the checking with EVF/LV if the RF focussing with SDPOO in place. Somebody, I don't remember where, wrote that the distance between the front lens M and the rear lens of SDPOO can disturbe the RF focussing accuracy. Please have a look at post #9, comparing the M10's gap with film M's gap. link to #
Infantasy Posted April 11, 2022 Share #85 Posted April 11, 2022 The goggles is confirmed to be mismatched or misaligned after tested on my M3 and M10 with EVF. I am now exploring whether calibration can be done on the round lens of the goggles as it affect the RF when being mounted which I discovered during the above experiment. Infantasy Posted April 16, 2022 Share #87 Posted April 16, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I ultimately filed my lens and successfully achieved focusing to infinity. Thanks @a.noctiluxfor his post. I also post here some photos for others reference. Welcome, dear visitor! romualdo Posted July 31, 2022 Share #89 Posted July 31, 2022 I've just tried my DR Cron (#17635xx) on my recently acquired M10 - the close range function works like a dream with & without goggles (using EVF) but not with standard range - can attach when set at 1.5m but resistance soon after - you can actually see the area inside the camera body (once lens is removed) where the lens cam is rubbing. Luckily I have a rigid 50 LTM Cron too (#16237xx) so with a 50mm LTM to M adapter I can use the standard function without having to file down my DR
a.noctilux Posted August 2, 2022 Author Share #90 Posted August 2, 2022 @romualdo Just use happily your LTM Summicron then. If not seen, the "very small filing" is for people who won't have Rigid. My "finding" is to be able to use the M10 with SOMNI which is still RF usable with other "film" M.
CarlitoPix Posted August 25, 2022 Share #91 Posted August 25, 2022 Hey Guys, first: What an interesting topic here. So thanks for this. My DR Summicron does not work on the M 10. When attached to the M10, i just can move the focus ring from 1.0 to 1.2 Meters. The macro distance is working. I have to say that i don´t own the goggles. I filed a tiny bit to check. But unfortunately no change. The DR is from 1962 (Ser.number 1955225) Do you think there is any chance to optimize this wonderful lens? Thanks ever so much for your help. Greetz, Carsten. a.noctilux Posted August 25, 2022 Author Share #92 Posted August 25, 2022 Hello Carsten, Strange, can you mount SOMNI on M10 without setting the focus to about 1.5m ? ... Please try this, when the lens is mounted on your M10, normally you need to set focus ring to about 1.5m before mounting. Unscrew the optical cell, then move the focus ring slowly, look inside to see where it stops, how much and where.
CarlitoPix Posted August 25, 2022 Share #93 Posted August 25, 2022 Hey a.noctilux, man! This is/was the trick! Setting the lens before mounting to 1.5m. It works, even to infinity. I can't thank you enough! ✌️
CarlitoPix Posted August 25, 2022 Share #94 Posted August 25, 2022 Now i hope to find a seperate goggle to use it on from .48 to .9 Already saw an offer on ebay. 275,- € Is this a normal/good price? Anybody?
a.noctilux Posted August 25, 2022 Author Share #95 Posted August 25, 2022 (edited) You are welcome, Carsten. Enjoy this nice lens. With M10, you can use the close range without SDPOO, close RF device. LV or Visoflex 020, push forward the focus ring when set at 1m, turn the ring to close range, then push down the ball to focus closer. CarlitoPix Posted August 25, 2022 Share #96 Posted August 25, 2022 Hey Arnaud, yes i know. But i would prefer to focus with the Rangefinder. Thanks again
derleicaman Posted August 25, 2022 Share #97 Posted August 25, 2022 You might need to remove some of the brass on the inside part of the lens barrel as well. When I did this to my DR, I needed to remove some of the brass from both the inside and outside. It is a lot of trial and error. Lens works through the full range with no issues now.

Anybody? I don't know the right price now, this one is on the high price for me. Be aware that the SDPOO was made in different periods to accept two sizes of ball. When "big ball" goggle is used on small ball DR, this won't work. I don't know the serial or year for each type, better knowing this "flaw" of design when buying separately. Welcome, dear visitor!
