Hello Philipp, The point at which 2 paradigms meet under circumstances where: For 1 to continue to be true: The other must be false = The limit of knowledge. It is also logically silly sometimes: 1 horse & 2 horses 1 cow & 2 cows 1 chicken & 2 chickens 1 ox & 2 oxen Best Regards, Michael Edited October 22, 2022 by Michael Geschlecht

What am I to make of: for one ox to be true, the other must be false? I'd have understood had you chosen turtles instead of oxen, I suppose. But still. What am I to make of: for one ox to be true, the other must be false? I'd have understood had you chosen turtles instead of oxen, I suppose. But still. Hello Philipp, I am sorry if there is some confusion here. After I Posted #611, I realized that I had written the Post assuming that you were thinking in English. I have been reading your writing here for many years & your written English is very good. So good that it reads like it is written by someone who is thinking in English. A person who is thinking in 1 language & writing in another is sometimes apparent in a manner somewhat similar to a painting which is a copy of a painting: As opposed to a painting that was painted from life. Your writing in English reads like a painting that was painted from life. The logical inconsistency (Paradigm) that brings a smile to a person's face (In English) is: 1 cat - 2 cats 1 dog - 2 dogs 1 chicken - 2 chickens 1 horse - 2 horses The paradigm for plurals of domestic animals when writing in English usually is to add "s" , or sometimes "es" . 1 ox - 2 oxen This is a different paradigm for the plural of a domestic animal. Adding "en". The logical inconsistency of 2 different paradigms for the same situation (Plurals of domestic animals.) where 1 paradigm functions in 1 part of "reality" and the other functions in a different part of that SAME "reality". But: The 2 are not interchangeable. There is no: 1 cat - 2 caten 1 dog - 2 dogen 1 chicken - 2 chickenen 1 horse - 2 horsen 1 ox - 2 oxes So, after a list of ..........s, to have ..........en, can put a smile on a person's face: Because of the logical inconsistency of being at the point where 2 different paradigms touch, where: For 1 to be true: The other CANNOT be true. pop Posted October 23, 2022 Share #615 Posted October 23, 2022 6 hours ago, Michael Geschlecht said: thinking in English Thank you, Michael. Actually, I do think in English at times and I don't at other times. (Sometimes I seem not to be thinking at all). You are right in that the rules that make up our languages can cause much merryment. One of my favorite ones is 'spouse -> spice' from 'mouse -> mice'. Another one is 'ghoti' as an alternative spelling for 'fish'. Both, of course, not invented by myself. If you ever have observed children learning to speak, you will know that both the human language and the way people learn them are wonderful things. However, it did not occur to me that your comment in post #611 was about the form of the language. The picture which caused our exchange was rather about what was said and not about how it was said, it appears to me. Be that as it may, this thread is about silly signs, and this discussion seems to be a bit off topic. 1

PAG Posted November 12, 2022 Share #617 Posted November 12, 2022 Ashbourne Derbyshire - they can print more copies than there are particles in the universe. The exclamation mark means that the number that precedes it is multiplied in a particular way such that 3! = 1x2x3 = 6; and 7! = 1x2x3x4x5x6x7 and so on. 1,000,000! = 1x2x3x...999,999x1,000,000. There are around 10^80 particles in the universe. Welcome, dear visitor!
