I don't see anywhere on this site that photo critiques are either encouraged or discouraged. As long as they are meant to be helpful and constructive, I think they are a good thing.

Our forum rules contain this:

"If a member publishes pictures in a forum, he puts them up for discussion (...)

The only exception to this rule I can think of is Barnack's Monthly, where we explicitly ask members not to comment on the pictures because we don't want to interrupt the flow of images.

Er, I criticised a pic a month or so ago and several people disapproved and moderator removed my suggested alteration to the other person's photograph. I guess being 'helpful' others may well see as 'interfering'.

Being helpful and suggesting improvements to an image is not seen as interfering, unless it's done in an offensive manner.

However, copyright being what it is, particularly in Germany, you can not alter someone's picture and post them here or elsehwere without explicit and prior consent.

This is stated in the forum rules as well:

"Forum members uploading photo(s) into the forum declare that: (...) He/she/they is(are) the author/originator of the published photo(s), bear(ers) of all associated legal rights and that they do(es) not violate any third-party claims"

All this and more is, of course, stated in the forum rules:

I saw the all new silver chrome Q a few days ago and did not expect to love it more than my all black! Needless to say, a deal was made on the spot!

My light painted photo of my Q sitting on top a mirror.

Very, very nice. I plan to avoid seeing one otherwise I might be carrying it home. It’s beautiful.
