How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Fil

There are many photos posted which are absolutely phenomenal and others that do not move me. I was just taken aback by your comment that the poster 'should not post that item on this forum' as being inappropriate. For me, the 'better' reply might have to ignore the photo, or simply to have commented as to why the particular subject matter did not appeal to you.

 

I appreciate where you are coming from and thank you for your considered reply.

I could perhaps have worded my comment about the photo differently. I guess I reacted to the image more than crafting my response.

 

Part of my thought process was based upon a genuine love for this forum. It is so unlike most public meeting places I see where people anonymously say horrible things or post very offensive images. The members of this forum to a very large degree try and post high quality, inspiring images as well as patiently offer help and advice to others. I see very little overt criticism or comments that take people down. I really like that.

 

I lead a photography club of people from 15-81. Its very interesting to have that wide of range in age. We have the attitude of helping and improving and little negative. I'm told that the club is rare compared to other organizations.

 

I was only trying to in my small way help keep this forum healthy, active and positive. No offense intended.

 "Giving the finger" may or may  not be offensive depending upon one's perspective, but for me it falls within the wide latitude as to what constitutes "art", so I had taken issue with Infiniumguy's post.

No problem.  I think you understand my point, as well.

 

I'm all for critique -good and bad- and  with photography being a hobby I certainly can use some (lots!).  I just like to see talented peoples' works on this forum. 

 

Hopefully, you/others will offer me some constructive advice moving forward. :)
