Heading for a swim in Viti, a geothermal maar (explosive volcanic crater) next to Öskjuvatn lake in central Iceland. The water here is around 30°C which makes it the perfect swimming pool!

 

Went to Iceland last year. It is a spectacularly beautiful country. Will definitely go back to see more of it!

Herdubreidarlindir. Probably one of the most beautiful places in Iceland.

 

 

 

Difficult to pick the most beautiful place in Iceland, the next is always better than the last.

 

I was walking round the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy in London and there was a spectacular picture of Dettifoss taken in winter, from the eastern side, all frozen up. We found the trip bad enough to drive in the summer, the road down from Dettifoss is terrible.

 

London being a small place with only a few inhabitants, a month of so later I found myself having dinner with someone and it turned out the photographer was his wife. She's in love with Iceland and has been on 6 or 7 photo trips, particularly in the winter.

 

Have you any Q images from up there in winter? It's not that far from you.

I like this photo a lot, its way over-processed but this gives it a surreal - almost paint - look. Well done!

 I was there one 1990...

Aurora borealis, Northern lights in Laugarfell in the Icelandic highlands. The hot spring that is about 40°C all year round (been there in -20°C cold enjoying a warm bath). Such an amazing place which everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime.
