Advertisement Posted October 16, 2021 Posted October 16, 2021 Hi Jeff S, Take a look here M 11 will be around in less than 4 years. The speculations and facts.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

Still strange to me. But for the rest, my approach is similar: the final print matters, regardless the gear or editing (including cropping) workflow, film or digital. Nobody knows or cares, as long as the pic and print are worthy. Jeff No, you're right.......It's odd that the "blurring", whatever that was caused by, ( probably "operator error" ), isn't present with the M10-M. But we've beaten this subject to death last year, let it remain one of the mysteries of life, while we still have a few.
Jeff S Posted October 16, 2021 Share #1163 Posted October 16, 2021 4 minutes ago, Steven said: Have you been happy with your recent M10M purchase ? Indeed, but as I’ve written before, I mostly appreciate the workflow and the way it encourages me to think and see, reminiscent of my b/w film and darkroom days (since the 70’s/80’s). I can still make nice pics and prints using my M10 or original M Monochrom, if I do my part well. But I’ve thought about selling one or both Monochroms, only to simplify gear choice, and because the pandemic and family issues have limited my photography. Most of my work is still b/w, but I still dab in color; otherwise I’d consider ditching the M10 instead and keeping the Monochrom(s). The gear really doesn’t excite me as much these days, especially when compared to the enjoyment of a really fine pic/print, which remains an elusive target even after all these years. BTW, your 48 hour challenge has passed. Did you make any nice pics using your 35 FLE? Jeff

But I do realise that 'abstention' might be considered by some to be an all or nothing behaviour. Am glad enough the M11 will arrive. I was afraid it would be never…. don’t spoil the fun of anticipation, it’s often the best part☺️ 1

That made me recall, when the 11.11 date first came up on LUF, that I momentarily had the same thought but then forgot about that: it should, though, be bleeding obvious that any German company with a serious stake in the German market would think that 11.1 would not be an auspicious or favorable date for introducing a product with "11" in its name. _______________________________________Frog Leaping photobook and Instagram Good - that gives me more time to gather and resell aluminum cans to help pay for my copy. 😎

But I’ve had a 15 years obsession with low light photography, trying to find a camera that can see in the dark . . . . Steven, I know you were responding to Jeff S, but I thought I would offer some encouragement. The M10M is my favorite camera of all time. It can “see in the dark” and I like the look of its high ISO files. Regards. m

mon10a Posted October 17, 2021 Share #1168 Posted October 17, 2021 15 minutes ago, Steven said: Hahaha. Alan is the nicest guy. This was while having a beer with him in paris after walking around for 2 hours taking photos. Fun fact about Alan, he shoots 99% of his shots from the hip……. Wide open !!!! By muscle memory, he sets focus by guessing the distance from his subjects. That particular evening, he was doing it with the 50 Noctilux at 1.2 and never missed any shots!!! So you can image that his focus accuracy with his main lens (24 mm) is higher than a Sony A1! I was so shocked and inspired that I practiced all weekend the same thing with my 35mm. It’s actually achievable! I was pretty decent at it. The hardest is for distances below 1.5m cause you must be extra precise. But I think with a couple more weeks of practice I can pull it off. Alan is great. Wow! Thank you, Steven. I was actually practicing this yesterday with my 24mm. My focus wasn’t too bad, but most of my shots were crooked! Haha. Jeff S Posted October 17, 2021 Share #1171 Posted October 17, 2021 Mostly one camera, one lens (and one paper brand)…and countless hours; would be very disappointing for anyone not to make the operational/technical aspects become second nature over time. He talks about the time and effort he put in to learn what works and what doesn’t…for him. Jeff

Jeff S Posted October 17, 2021 Share #1173 Posted October 17, 2021 Ilford. He talks about different focal lengths, with the 24 his favorite (with reasons why). But he stresses that he doesn’t let gear chasing get in his way; he finds a few things gear-wise that work with his style, practices like hell, and then concentrates on the pics. Never any heavy editing, just exposure adjustments when necessary due to the fact that he’s a very fast hip shooter. Does he use JPGs, mainly? _______________________________________Frog Leaping photobook and Instagram
SrMi Posted October 17, 2021 Share #1175 Posted October 17, 2021 2 minutes ago, Steven said: Never. DNG only. He under exposes in camera to protect his highlight. When shooting, you can’t ever see the image on the back of his screen! They’re always too dark to see. In the videos, he seems to be regularly using the rear LCD and EVF. The images do not seem to be too dark to see. He probably uses different approaches that suit the situation.

Exactly the opposite, of course. He’s not into gear acquisition or shuffling, content to stick with what he knows, with typically minimal kit. Yours is an almost daily adventure. Alas, not in M11 or any other Leica camera any time soon...🙁 I do enjoy my digital M camera experience (M246) but "Wesentliches" or "essentials" according to Google translate, is becoming byword for outdated at inflated price.
