I've been using a Thumbie on all of my digital Leica Ms and prefer them to the other thumb rest options. The black paint on all of my Thumbies have peeled off in places revealing brass underneath. All of the paint on the one I have on an M8 has completely peeled off and the Thumbie is now completely brass. All fine by me, but if you're concerned about cosmetics then the Thumbie might not be a good choice for you. To Steve, To avoid brassing on silver Thumbies, why not make them from aluminium? Just an idea. I am still happy with mine, brassing a little on the edges while the M10 is as new.
Advertisement Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 Hi Gelatino, Take a look here Thumbie for M10. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Adam Bonn Posted August 4, 2021 Share #22 Posted August 4, 2021 Not sure where to post this, so I guess here will have to do! My secondhand M240 came with a thumbie and when I sold it I removed it I want to try it on my M10 so I contacted Steve via ebay when I saw that a new mounting adhesive pad wasn’t listed in his store After he ascertained that I wasn’t an existing customer and that I had never purchased anything from him before… He shipped me a new adhesive pad completely free of charge. Stand up guy. It’s little things like that impress me (Ymmv) and make me spread the news https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/steve250gto/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= (didn’t think it was worth a separate thread, but perhaps it is?)
Harvard Kiwi Posted August 9, 2021 Share #23 Posted August 9, 2021 +1 for Steve's Thumbies! While my go-to focal length is 50mm, I knew I wanted a 90mm lens and something ultra-wide for a 3 lens kit. I need my Visoflex for accurate 90mm focusing and will need it when I finally buy a 21mm for composition so taking up my hotshoe was never an option. I've used thumb grips on several systems for street photography over the years and was initially hesitant to get a stick-on grip. Even when it arrived, I wasn't I had made the correct choice. I applied soapy water and lined up the grip, then waited for it to dry. What an amazing design and I couldn't be happier. I don't think about it as an accessory as it has just become a part of the camera. My black Thumbie has some brassing on it now but the patina is beautiful. I thoroughly recommend this product as the best thumb grip for the M system as the ergonomics and fit are fantastic and they don't remove critical functionality I require from the hotshoe.

Harvard Kiwi Posted August 26, 2021 Share #25 Posted August 26, 2021 Let us know what you think of it when you have it installed. I hope you like it and am confident you will. It's something I just take for granted. I use it everyday but don't even think of it as an accessory I have bought. It's just a part of my camera now.

stefanusj Posted August 29, 2021 Share #27 Posted August 29, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) it feels pretty sturdy in the hand. the only inputs, it needs 1.2 mm wider so that it can covers the hand grip bump completely. but overall, i'm satisfied! Malabito Posted September 18, 2021 Share #28 Posted September 18, 2021 (edited) Hi fellow Leica users, how did you removed yours? Mine left a horrible mess on my camera, I had to take out since I am sending my m for service, but I won't be putting it back. Thanks! Welcome, dear visitor! farnz Posted September 18, 2021 Share #29 Posted September 18, 2021 I've taken Thumbies off to sell or service cameras before and sometimes they end up with what's in your picture after twisting the Thumbie sideways as per the instructions and then it's always been a simple case to 'roll' it off with your thumb. Keep picking at one end with the fleshy part of your thumb and after awhile it'll start to come away and then you can roll it all off. I've never needed to use GooGone or heat or tools on it. From memory I've done it three or four times now - M8, M9P, and M240. Pete.
Photoworks Posted September 18, 2021 Share #30 Posted September 18, 2021 I had the same on my M10-P black. It takes a little time but it will come off clean at the end without leaving any marks. I use tape to remove most of the remaining sticky goo
84bravo Posted September 18, 2021 Share #31 Posted September 18, 2021 A little bit of "goo-b-gone" on a paper towel will dissolve that sticky stuff right off without causing harm. You could also use lighter fluid.
LeicaBoss Posted September 18, 2021 Share #32 Posted September 18, 2021 Another fan of the Thumbie here! Way better than the 'Thumbs up' imo.
MikeMyers Posted February 4, 2022 Share #33 Posted February 4, 2022 I saw an incorrect eBay ad, and bought what I thought was a new Thumbie for my M10. I ended up with a used Thumbie for an M8/M9. I've already filled out the form to return it. Question - is the M10 Thumbie the same as M8/M9? Question #2 - I think it's been answered: On 4/30/2021 at 9:03 PM, farnz said: @250swb Are you able to help, Steve? I had all the information a few months ago, and I'm probably having another "Senior Moment", as in I can't find it. I did buy the grip for my M10, and even with the Visoflex on top, the camera now feels very secure. Is the Thumbie useful in ADDITION to the grip? farnz Posted February 4, 2022 Share #34 Posted February 4, 2022 6 hours ago, MikeMyers said: Question - is the M10 Thumbie the same as M8/M9? No it's not. The M10 has a thumbwheel and casing and the M10 Thumbie is designed to fit around that so a M8/9 Thumbie won't fit on the M10. 6 hours ago, MikeMyers said: I did buy the grip for my M10, and even with the Visoflex on top, the camera now feels very secure. Gelatino Posted February 4, 2022 Share #35 Posted February 4, 2022 I used on my M10 both Leica grip and Steve's thumbie and I was quite happy with this "belt and braces/suspenders" solution.😄 8 hours ago, MikeMyers said: .
