Frase Posted January 22, 2017 Share #21 Posted January 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Now there is sarcasm. The guy complains of the weight and then put a never-ready case over his chubby sluggish camera. suddenly its a chubby sluggish camera! not that I'm a fan of ever-ready cases. Just like the car salesman that sells you a car three years later the same salesman when you go for a trade in "no one is interested in these anymore!' diddus Posted January 22, 2017 Share #23 Posted January 22, 2017 it is most certainly sluggish. I find my M9 not to be sluggish tbh. I felt the M240 was a lot more sluggish and so is my T. Even my S 006 is sluggish. Not the M9 - unless you're talking about the buffer - which maybe fills up once in two or three month. But this thread is about the weight of the M10 - So I'll add my thoughts. I do have an M9 and basically only use it with my 35mm Summilux - I hardly ever carry a second lens or many accessories besides a spare battery and ND filter. The combination is heavy. I think losing 100 grams of that combination wouldn't make it feel less valuable. (the Fujis by comparison feel cheap and hollow ...) Anyhow, I haven't tried the M10 yet, but the added weight des put me off a bit
uhoh7 Posted January 22, 2017 Share #24 Posted January 22, 2017 it is most certainly sluggish. Timing is everything. I just take one. That's half the fun Dogs on Fire by unoh7, on Flickr The case is 100% function. You can hold the camera well, it's protected, and people comment more on the case than the camera. digitalfx Posted January 22, 2017 Share #25 Posted January 22, 2017 Yes I was referring to the buffer. I filled it up every time I used the camera and with the M9 the camera stopped working. The M240 was improved and didn't stop, but slowed dramatically. The M10 resolves this Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

But I do like to hear the M10 shutter is best yet and may get higher speed later. 5FPS is almost like.....video.

Just like the car salesman that sells you a car three years later the same salesman when you go for a trade in "no one is interested in these anymore!' Suddenly? It always was chubby and sluggish. Unless you are new in the M world; then, chubby and sluggish is your norm.
Stealth3kpl Posted January 22, 2017 Share #28 Posted January 22, 2017 OK, what's in there that weighs more than M262, and must weigh more than M262? More viewfinder optics, bigger chips, thicker batter, lots of salt n vinegar, mmm, what are we talking about again? Pete
jmahto Posted January 23, 2017 Share #29 Posted January 23, 2017 Lens choice makes a bigger difference in the final weight. Since nobody knew that I had to spell it out.
edwardkaraa Posted January 23, 2017 Share #30 Posted January 23, 2017 I was a bit surprised by the weight myself, when I tried a demo at the local Leica store. I guess being slimmer with the same weight makes it feel denser, heavier. Anyhow, it's no big deal as many have rightly said. The weight/size obsession is becoming ridiculous. earleygallery Posted January 23, 2017 Share #31 Posted January 23, 2017 Of course if the new M had been significantly lighter people would be complaining that they must have cut costs, used plastic internal parts, moan that it feels cheap, it won't take heavy use, etc. etc.
uhoh7 Posted January 23, 2017 Share #32 Posted January 23, 2017 Of course if the new M had been significantly lighter people would be complaining that they must have cut costs, used plastic internal parts, moan that it feels cheap, it won't take heavy use, etc. etc. It's not going to wear pretty anyway and there are modern materials which are light and strong for the exterior. That could probably reduce weight by 100 grams with no sacrifice in durability or the "feel". I don't know what else inside could be also made lighter without sacrifice, but I suspect there is at least another 50 grams. Some might complain, but many others would be over the moon at such a light digital RF, and it would push sales further. Those are just pretty likely facts. But it would have taken longer and maybe cost more. This M10 is here right now and looks very nice. Some will never admit anything could be better. Honest evaluation of any camera will always find things which could be improved. Why it's not lighter is a very valid question, but I'd bet plenty who ask it will still buy one
uhoh7 Posted January 24, 2017 Share #33 Posted January 24, 2017 I just looked up the weight of the M9 Titanium. Anyone care to guess?
digitalfx Posted January 25, 2017 Share #34 Posted January 25, 2017 75 grams lighter
Guest Posted January 25, 2017 Share #35 Posted January 25, 2017 Then it would be perfect. No camera will ever be perfect guaranteed. I think the M is getting very close though. The weight seemed a little more than I expected, but after a few momemts of handling and taking photos I thought it feels very nice indeed. With the grip attached even better. A very nice camera. cookedart Posted January 26, 2017 Share #37 Posted January 26, 2017 Personally if there was a cheaper aluminum top+bottom plate option that was lighter like the new silver lenses are, it would be very tempting. I definitely like brass but I think the weight savings of aluminum make sense to me.
