Simey Posted September 30, 2013 Share #1661 Posted September 30, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Better a hackneyed cat than a knock-kneed cat, eh? Welcome, Simey, and thanks for posting! Pete. Well, he's an elderly gentleman, so he is getting there. Thanks for the welcome.
Advertisement Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Hi Simey, Take a look here The view through older Glass. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaques Posted September 30, 2013 Share #1662 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) I just came across a Summarit 50 1.5. The glass looks very clean- no real scratches- quite clear- but a little bluish- possibly haze? - and the images are distinctly blue toned and an unusual blend of soft and sharp wide open. Is it worth having the lens cleaned- and will it change the image much? Poor Bertie the cat is shot wide open- the lens changes dramatically stopped down to f4 on the building. Welcome, dear visitor! farnz Posted September 30, 2013 Author Share #1663 Posted September 30, 2013 Is it worth getting your Summarit cleaned? I would have thought so if you're not familiar with its provenance but would you very kindly post the question in a separate thread to avoid distracting this wonderful thread please? Thanks, Pete. Erik Gunst Lund Posted October 3, 2013 Share #1668 Posted October 3, 2013 Way off thread, yes you can use a new G-Type Nikon lens on your Leica M, they sell G-Type adapters. But those lenses are quite large for an M... 14-24 AFS is one of the best wide zooms around, just look out for flares. The 24 1.4 AFS should be sweet on the MM or M

erl Posted October 7, 2013 Share #1672 Posted October 7, 2013 Dusted off the old Noctilux 50/1.0 preparatory to taking it to Germany (for the One Challenge) and gave it a run yesterday. A selection from the streets of Melbourne on a Sunday afternoon. I think it is tuned up. Now to work on myself! Food for thought. Welcome, dear visitor! tobey bilek Posted October 7, 2013 Share #1675 Posted October 7, 2013 I just came across a Summarit 50 1.5. The original coating is blue, however that does not make the pictures blue. Mine has a normal color balance compared to my other Leitz lenses which have a blue coating. Wide open they have a soft sharp blend with beautiful soft backgrounds as long as the backgrounds do not have a lot of detail when they can turn nervous. Around 2.8 to 4 contrast picks up considerably and they look much like other lenses of the era. Perhaps consider looking at WB and/or doing side by side with another lens. Maybe yours got some aftermarket recoat some place. I always use the proper shade with mine and the Leitz E41 UV filter. The shade cost a small fortune. It is also a screw mount with adapter.

kds315 Posted October 8, 2013 Share #1678 Posted October 8, 2013 I recently found a prototype NOKTON f1.5 / 60mm (yes 60mm, not 50mm!) designed by Dr Albrecht TRONNIER, unfortunately with some spots on glass - would it be worth it to use?
