Same camera, lens and settings as above

I was shooting from the same place this evening and was nearly the victim of an e-bike mugging.

Three teenagers on e-bikes had been speeding up and down the walkway beside the Thames; I'd noticed them but didn't pay them any attention because they were just being a nuisance - or so I thought.  I'd been walking along with my CL and 80/1.4 Summilux-R held on my right hand side danging at mid-thigh.  Two of the e-bikes passed me at speed and a few seconds later the third one passed very close to me at 20 to 30 mph and I felt my hand and arm rotate 180 degrees as the rider made a grab at the camera.  I usually carry my cameras on a wrist strap (that he probably didn't see) so he didn't get away with it.  Fortunately no damage, no injury, and just a bit shaken because I hadn't been expecting it.

(Note to self: next time, bring the bazooka too.) 😄

Pete.

Terribly sorry to read that. What an awful experience! Good you didn't get hurt. Next time, leave nothing to chance and bring a couple of hand grenades alongside the bazooka.😉

M10 + Leitz Elmar f=5cm 1:2.8 LTM
With the light from the side and open aperture, the lens from 1956 produces extremely low contrast images. But that's exactly what I like about old lenses. The Elmar has no haze and is really sharp when stopped down with light behind my back. I wonder if the lens already has a coating.

I have had a more or less similar experience last year in Offenburg, Germany. happily walking around with my wife and M6TTL with Summicron 50mm, I noticed a boy on a bike looking at me, passing me by. Minutes later when I put camera and lens in my shoulder bag he passed me by speeding up, trying to grab my bag from my shoulder. He miscalculated because I held on to my bag and he ran into a bench at speed. Bad luck for him.

If it is from 1956, it should be coated.

Perfect ending. The only thing that would make it better would be if he ran into a brick wall instead of a bench.
