But a mint 8-element is not easy to find. Super happy with it.

No, it's not a coincidence. 😉 Your excellent pictures reminded me of this very fine lens and I went looking for pictures I hadn't already shared here before... The 8e is indeed highly regarded in Pentax circles - so much so that there seems to be a fair number of "fakes" (mostly later 7-elements versions disguised as 8 elements) on the market. A couple of indications give the "fakes" away - the protrusion and shape of the rear element is the key one. Plenty of helpful information on the internet about this. So, yes, finding a mint AND genuine copy requires a bit of effort and a keen eye. M10M + 1964 8-element Super-Takumar 50/1.4 (M42 on Shoten adapter), probably @ f/2 Welcome, dear visitor! ocean2059 Posted November 28, 2023 Share #11968 Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) @Ecar, thanks to your early post regarding adapting rangefinder couple (50mm) lens, I am getting a Super-Takumar 50/1.4, 8-element copy in a few days. I am looking forward to using it with a Re-work rangefinder coupled adapter on my M9M/10M. Hopefully, I will post some images here. Here are two older images from another of my favorite lenses, an Emarit-R 28/2.8 V2 with a Sony A7r3. Welcome, dear visitor! I just saw that a few days ago and I ordered it. The cost is about 2/3 of that from Shoten. They also have a Nikon F mount to M mount 50mm rangefinder coupled adapter now, which I didn't see before. Stef63 Posted November 29, 2023 Share #11973 Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) Yet another Takumar lens! 😲 This one is the Pentax Super Takumar 55 mm f2.0 on an M11. It shares the outstanding build quality characteristic of all Takumars and is essentially identical to the f1.7 version, except for a ring near the diaphragm blades that reduce it to f2.0. This was a cost-effective solution to introduce a more budget-friendly lens to the market. While its out-of-focus rendering doesn't quite match that of the 8-element 50 mm f1.4, it still delivers very pleasing results. Additionally, it's sharp even wide open, which is quite remarkable for a lens that's been around for half a century. Well below 100 € on eBay. Welcome, dear visitor!
